Olivia (livvie_simone) (spoilers for City of Heavenly Fire )
First off, what do you guys think about Sebastian?
To me, he is like that fly that keeps following and bothering you but won't leave you alone. Kind of like a pest. I don't know what his deal is with his strange affections for Clary. When he forcefully kissed her during the fight, who knows how much further he may have went...Also, the fact that he not only somehow got his hands on ANGEL WINGS, but he got those wings (and the note) INSIDE the institute. I don't know how he managed that. But at the same time, maybe somebody did that for him, and if so, who? *sigh* Unfortunately, I think he has a big and powerful plan that is going to cause some rather unfortunate events in CoHF. :(

He definitely is the major I guess evil doer in this last book! He's going to cause major devastation and kill a lot of people basically I think this book is going to be full of tears as will CP2.

message 3: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 16 comments So i have a theory guys...what if Sebastian has Tessa and if you got to read the back of CP2 it says something about Tessa being able to control angels. What if he used her to get the angel and rip out it's wings. If she can control angels and he is in control of her then the shadowhunters might be screwed. Sorry for the spoilers.

message 4: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 16 comments I can not wait to get my hands on this book!

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't think Tessa would do that unless she was manipulated by him or something...even then, she's a pretty powerful warlock and if she has the ability to control angels...

As far as Sebastian goes, he's very powerful and secretive so it's no surprise he somehow managed to rip off the wings of a living angel and send them with the note to the Institute... I think he's even more powerful and evil than Valentine to be quite honest (especially since he was able to obtain a second Mortal Cup and make it demonic in origin and turn Shadowhunters to dark/evil), and he's a more interesting character because of who he is and his past/story...also, his weird/mixed feelings towards Clary, which yeah, are disgusting but then again, he isn't a normal person...He has too much demon blood in him which is clouding his thoughts, he can't think rationally...and nothing is wrong or "sick" to him, not that I support what he did or tried to do to poor Clary, being his sister and all...

I think Sebastian is a very complex and interesting character...I also think he does have a heart, deep down inside-all those little bits in CoLS when he shows Clary around the cities, saves her from demons (even if he probably *knew* she was going to turn against him), buying her the hot chocoloate and croissant in Paris...Also, Clary tells Jace how Sebastian is deeply lonely and doesn't understand that you have to earn love...

message 6: by Cate (new)

Cate Billinton i think a lot of people will die in CoHF just cuz it's the last book. Also i hope tessa's in it cuz that would be awesome!!!!!

message 7: by Emily (new)

Emily (tmi_lover26) | 45 comments Okay I know this sounds weird but I've always kinda had a thing for Sebastian. I know, I know, he likes his sister and it's really creepy but if you think about it, he was forced into this life.

It's not like Valentine where he choice to be evil, Sebastian was born and breed to be a physco, heartless, killing machine. I feel like he actually is really lonely. I pretty sure he will die in the last book so my heart goes out to him.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments I can't help it- don't kill me!- but I love Sebastian. He's the kind of villain that you fall in love with and constantly want to win even if his morals are wrong. He was just so well written and I can't help but love ALL of Cassie's characters. Yes, when he killed Max, I was angry. (Hodge had it coming.) But, I love Sebastian. I REALLY don't want him to die in City of Heavenly Fire, even though he is, um *cough* psychotic *cough* (I'll admit it; trying to rape Clary was a little too extreme. But, he wouldn't be Sebastian if he wasn't a little crazy.)

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Thumbs up roses . I feel the exact same way ;)

message 10: by cecilia (new)

cecilia I can't disagree with any of that, but he's not my favorite... he's a pretty cool character--really well written... even if he is insane, just a little.

message 11: by T.J. (last edited Apr 26, 2013 01:41PM) (new)

T.J. | 111 comments I hate him. He is a creepy weirdo man-child who hits on his own sister and strips people of their free will and kills children! No, no, no, he needs to go away! Okay, apparently sons of Valentine have a thing for dying. Sebastian once, Jace twice (even though he isn't actually Valentine's son) I mean seriously! Where are the morals of death? You know, once you die you...stay dead.

message 12: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Yeah, but he was so well written that you couldn't help but like him, even if he was psycho. Like, his character was so perfect from an author's perspective...

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments And, you can't help but feel bad for him. He didn't choose to be a psychopathic monster. It's all Valentine's fault. (When in doubt, blame Valentine.)

message 14: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 111 comments I don't feel bad for him at all. I feel bad for what was done to him, but he has done too much to where I can actually blame it all on the demon poison. He is psychotic and I frankly hate how Cassandra made him so wrong. The parts with Clary were just unnecessary which is why I hated the last book.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I wish a book about his life would be written

message 16: by cecilia (new)

cecilia (Totally.)

The poor guy was just raised wrong. If he had been raised in a better environment, he'd only have been a little messed up or even not at all. It depends on how his demon blood played out...

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Yeah. Once you go through so much, you loose a stable mental state. There are people out there just like Sebastian. All in all, he's a hated and loved character. It's alright to have your own opinion. :) (Oh my goodness, a book about his life? I'm in.)

message 18: by cecilia (new)

cecilia (I know, totally. Then I could hate Valentine more!)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

(( valentine wasn't as cool as sebastian. Sebastian is the coolest villain ever))

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments (More excuses to hate Valentine is always a good thing. Always.)

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments (The best of the best!)

message 22: by Chisom (new)

Chisom O | 53 comments I like Valentine better as a villian than Sebby cause Valentine actually makes sense, whereas Sebby just does things cause he can. But even tho hee's a evil, sick teisted freak, ther's something about him that makes him so sexy, and which is why i like him. He's evuil, but he is one nice badass

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Well said!

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Although, I still think Sebastian is a better villain than Valentine. Sebastian thinks bigger and better. Valentine aimed for the heart of the Clave; Sebastian is aiming for the world.

message 25: by cecilia (new)

cecilia True!!!

message 26: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 59 comments I totally want him to have his own book! I wonder if he needed convincing to embrace his demon blooded side......?

message 27: by cecilia (new)

cecilia I don't know...

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments I think it may have came naturally. I don't think he knew when he was younger. Oh, how awkward! "Hi, uh, son, you're part demon. How was your day?"

message 29: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Oh, that would be HYSTERICAL!!!! I'd burst out laughing!!!!!!

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Haha, yeah! Valentine's face when he tells Sebastian would be priceless!

message 31: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Absolutely. I wonder if he'd mention if it's his fault or not...

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments I hope he does! "And, well, it's my fault that you're a soulless demon. Hey, did you clean your room?"

message 33: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Oh, that would be AMAZING!!!!!!!! I'd be laughing to the point where I was crying. Just the nonchalance. That would be hysterical.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Are you reading this, Cassandra Clare? THIS MUST BE DONE.

message 35: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 59 comments "Hey! How was your day? Did you kill anyone?" "Why would I do that daddy?" "Well son you are half demon and you have a half sister who is really cool." "Oh."

message 36: by Britt (new)

Britt (theinfernaldevice) Having a Sebastian POV would be really cool, I'd like to see inside his mind and we'd see more action.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments "Dad, why do I feel like a raging monster?"

"It's a part of growing up, son. And you are part demon, so...yeah."

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Amen, Brittany. Amen.

message 39: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Yes!!

message 40: by Britt (new)

Britt (theinfernaldevice) He's actually one of my favorite characters besides Simon or Magnus :)

message 41: by cecilia (new)

cecilia I like Jace!!!

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments I'm sorry guys I'm a weirdo. I'm not too crazy for Jace. Simon, on the other hand...

message 43: by cecilia (new)

cecilia Jace is the best!!! He's amazing!!!! I love Simon, though!!!!

message 44: by Britt (new)

Britt (theinfernaldevice) I don't really like jace, sorry but he's just... I don't know, the sarcastic asshole works on will from TID better :)

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments My point exactly! He's too self pitting and I just... god I always love the nerds! So, Simon.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments It's the same with Will and Jem. I NEVER liked Will. Bleh. I've always been more attracted to Jem and his sweetness and white hair and his violin. I've never liked how Will was always just there and how he caught everyone's attention and how he was the shooting star and Jem was the flame. I like low, hidden boys. Will was just too... bright for me.

message 47: by T.J. (last edited Apr 26, 2013 04:44PM) (new)

T.J. | 111 comments I hate Jem. Hes too abstract.

message 48: by cecilia (new)

cecilia I love both of the guys from TID, and right now, I'm very mad at Will. He's so mean to Tessa!! I just got to the part where they're freaking out over the full moon, but I'm still mad at Will, so I like Jem just a tad more. Jem is better, anyway. But I love Will's personality.

message 49: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 111 comments No.....you havent read the entire series, have you? Dont judge the character before you get to really know them.

Roses-aren't-red-darling | 32 comments Jem can be very vague sometimes, like he's not really a character, but a shadow. That's just what I love about him, though. He's just so fragile. I love love love it when the men in books are soft and fragile and so sweet. Well, sometimes. I do like my men strong like Noah from Mara Dyer and Percy from Percy Jackson. But, Jem is special. :) But, hey! Every one has their own opinion. :)
