Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments Looks like a great group Jack. I've been looking for a nice Goodreads group to join. I like how you have a lot of different topics.

Not sure where to introduce myself so I'll do it here.
My name is Lynn, I've been with my hubby for 32 years, have a 22 year old daughter. Love to read. Have been quite into the dystopian type novels lately but like all sorts of books. Am a sci-fi nerd. Love music (more into the heavy rock/metal than mainstream stuff). I live in Australia and I'm 49 years old. Pleased to meet you all.

Hi Lynn and welcome to the group!

We have an introductions thread in the general folder but here is fine. I'm really into dystopian novels at the moment as well. I'm reading the "Gone" series by Michael Grant at the moment and I can't put it down! :-)

message 4: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments That's a series I want to read :) Thanks for the welcome. I copied and pasted my intro to the other board. Might as well put it in the right place LOL

Hi Kyle! Welcome to the group. Music is my life too! I play piano and I love any genre. It's great to have you as a part of our group. :-)

message 6: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments Hey Kyle, nice to meet you :) Wow, you like to do a lot of things :) I forgot to mention that I love to draw/sketch and love making art journals. I used to be a bit of a horror buff but the older I get the more they scare me LOL. I sooooo know what you mean about still feeling 17. Sometimes I think my daughter acts older than I do (and so does she ha ha)

I love to draw as well! I'm such an art junkie! Yeah I'm not too big a fan of horror, but I did go through a stage of constant reads of horror.

message 25: by Lynn (last edited Feb 17, 2013 07:16AM) (new)

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments @Kyle - Yes, I've been drawing and sketching all my life. I've dabbled in watercolours too. Hubby bought me some watercolour crayons and they are the best thing I've used in years. I have an art room (or as I like to call it - an art studio lol) in my house. I was into scrapbooking for years and on some design teams so I turned one of my rooms into a studio to keep up with all the work. I'm by no means really good at the drawing and sketching but I love doing it.

It's cool that you have an art journal :) I actually have a few of them. I usually make the whole thing myself and some of them I use like a diary but with art, my poetry, stories etc. instead of normal "diary" type entries. It's fun and keeps me happy :)

I must admit that I haven't watched many of the newer horror movies. I'm more into sci-fi. I did hear about a couple of movies that kids/teens (and older people) were watching. Turned my stomach. They were called The Human Centipede 1 & 2. After hearing about that I didn't want to watch a horror movie ever again.

Hahah, I wish my body felt 17 again but at least my mind does :)

The Exorcist is my favourite horror movie, I also like The Omen Trilogy and The remake, Salems Lot, Halloween and much much more lol

message 30: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) Hello Jack.
Just recently found goodreads on the web, and came across your group today. Sounds like it will be a very interesting place.
I'm 62, married, have adopted my grandson (10 years old in April). Live in south Florida now. Grew up in the Detroit area, spent 20 years in Texas.
I enjoy photography and making artist trading cards, a sort of miniture collage.
Interests: anything dealing with the arctic or anarctic, American and Irish history, horror and ghost stories, stories about animals, especially dogs.

Love Cussler, Vince Flynn, Robert B Parker.

Yes, I have Friday the 13th 1-7 boxset but I only really liked the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th but overall its good horror series I've never seen Hell Night I just googled it and it sounds good thanks for the recommendation I might give it a look :)

message 32: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 451 comments My favorite horror movies are called valentine and halloween and the bad seed

message 33: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments @ Kyle, wow we have a lot in common too (along with Jack). Watercolour crayons are sooooo incredible. They cost a small fortune for the really good ones but my hubby found me some reasonably priced ones which I'm happy with. Ha ha, the "art studio" sounds more impressive than it actually is :) But it's mine and I love it :)
If you want to see some pictures of it, there are quite a few on my blog. There's some on this page - http://lynn-mccorry-2.blogspot.com.au...

If you search the blog for scraproom I think you'll find lots of close up shots of different things I have in there etc. This is the link to the main page of my blog - http://lynn-mccorry-2.blogspot.com.au/

I haven't updated it in a few months. Must get back to that. I have an older blog - there's a link to it on the page somewhere.

Ahh, Logan's Run! A life changing movie for me. That was one of the movies that really got me into sci fi. I love all the Alien movies too.

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments Hi Michael and welcome. :) Goodreads and this group are so great. How lovely to have a grandson. I'm actually looking forward to being a grandma one day. My daughter is engaged but won't be getting married until she finishes uni where she is studying to be a psychologist. She's just finished her bachelors but still has 2 - 3 years to go. Looks like it will be some time before I become a grandparent :(

I started making artist trading cards last year. Not to swap though. Just for myself. I add them to journals, handmade cards etc. They are great fun to make and I really enjoy it.

It's lovely to meet you :)

message 40: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Mccorry | 104 comments Thanks for all your lovely comments :)

@ Christine, I've just accepted the invite. Thanks so much. I really look forward to getting to know you :) I find that the name Lynn is more common as a middle name than a first name. My mum called me that because she didn't want people to shorten my name. Consequently, I get called Lynnie, Lindyloo, etc. People do love to change a name ha ha Thanks for the congrats to my daughter. She's been engaged for about 4 years now and they won't get married until she's done with uni. Otherwise she will lose her government allowance. They are happy to wait. They are already like an old married couple. LOL
BTW, is Valentine the movie with David Borneaz (sp?) I've seen a movie by that name with him in it and loved it.

@ Kyle - awww thank you for your lovely words. We are in the process of changing our house around (Jade no longer lives at home) so I'm going to use her (bigger) bedroom as my new art room. Can't wait :) Ripley would be one of my favourite sci-fi characters as well. Love tough female characters. I also love Corbin Dallas (Bruce Willis played that role in The 5th Element). Love Arnold as The Terminator... Goodness I could go on and on :)

@ Jack - thanks for your lovely words and for the congrats to my daughter :)

Hope I haven't missed anyone :)
