Tim Vee Loved this book, I think Poppy Gee has perfectly captured the feel of the rugged Tasmanian coast line and townships dotted all the way along it,the characters she has developed are honest and familiar and she has successfully exposed their true personalities, warts and all... I particularly enjoyed the way Poppy just tells the tale as it happens without trying to inspire false suspicions and deliberately lead you in the wrong direction just to surprise you at the end... Many authors include unnecessary twists and turns and false leads to display their own cleverness, however Poppy leaves it up to the reader to disect the the small town gossip and dark rumours and to form alliances with this character or that to unravel the mystery at their own pace, and to work out for themselves who to trust... This is a book that made me think about it when I wasn't reading it and look forward to picking it up again for the next chapters to see where it would take me next... I'd love a follow on novel to see where all the well developed, earthy characters ended up after that dark summer at The Bay of Fires... Either way, I look forward to Poppy Gee's next publication.... Well done...!

Elizabeth Oh man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has high praise for this book and who can't wait to see what she has coming up next. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I picked it up, but I was very impressed by her work. Your review is spot-on and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new murder-mystery to read.
