Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

Thank you to all Goodreads members who've responded to our writer market survey! We would love to get to 100 responses before making any presentations or decisions based on it. We're up to 61 responses now, and it's now much more balanced between indy-published and traditionally-published writers.

Thought everyone would like to see some good news because the overwhelming majority of people who've responded have said they've already written a book they believe many people would enjoy reading!



A plurality (40%) see themselves as 6-figure and up writers in terms of how much they would like to be paid for their work:



And in terms of work process, the clear winner in producing work the writers feel is timely and of good quality is beta readers so far, closely followed by working with an editor. Other choices also benefited, but the one lagging behind (which was actually zero until the past few days - please keep in mind almost 100% of initial responses were my friends and associates who are all multiply-published, agented, some bestselling authors) - is agents.
