Corky Howdy, everybody...

I'm new here, so I thought I would say a quick "Hello!".

Not sure what exactly to say here ... My friends say I read way too much (as if a such thing were possible.) I read a little bit of everything, but Mysteries and Thrillers tend to be my favorites.

Being that I read so much, one of my biggest problems is that I am often searching for new books (or new authors) to read. My favorite authors (Cornwell, Deaver, Reichs, Fairstein - just to name a few) can only pen so many books per year - so ... what to read when I'm waiting for the next book to come out?

Also ... while I am an avid reader, most of my friends only read one or two books a year ... so it would be good to find a place where I can discuss these books with other people.

Anyhow ... thanks for being here. I can't wait to get started.

Bill Welcome to the group, Corky. You've come to the right place if you want recommendations for new mystery writers. You'll get many here. Try checking out the Author's Corner or the Favourite Authors/ Books section. We've currently got a poll up with recommendations for our next monthly group read, that might give you some ideas too. Enjoy yourself.

Welcome Corky. Lots of great recommendations of all types of mysteries and thrillers here. The group bookshelf has all the books we're read as group reads.

Beth | 408 comments Welcome to the group, Corky! You'll find many avid readers here. I try to read a book a week, but I know many others here read much more than I do.

Corky Thanks for the nice welcome, everyone.
Beth, for me - one a week is a bit of an understatement... unless I get real busy.
Bill, thanks for the suggestion. Going to try that now.
A.G., thanks. Will check you out for sure.
and Ann, I think Preston/Child are great, too. Just finished Two Graves a week or so ago.
