Do you have something you want to talk about that's not book related?

Doesn't matter if it's something good, or something bad.

Whatever it is, post about it here.

anyone got anything fun planned for the Summer?

message 3: by Richelle (new)

Richelle Goodrich (richelleegoodrich) My favorite thing is getting in the car and taking a three or four day road trip in any direction. It's fun to see new scenery and stop at any place that perks interest along the way.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 781 comments Mod
That sounds fun.

What kind of places have you been? What's your most memorable road trip event?

To the Canadians in the group: a belated happy Canada day!

To the Americans in the group: Happy 4th of July!

To everyone else: Happy weekend! :)

That's great!

Do you go often? Are you in any fitness classes? Or do you just do your own thing when you feel like it?

message 8: by Shannon (new)

Shannon I do whatever I want

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 781 comments Mod
Fair enough.

So, what's your favourite thing to do there? Do you have a favourite activity? Or a favourite exercise machine?

message 10: by Shannon (new)

Shannon I love swimming there

message 11: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 781 comments Mod
That's great; swimming is a really great way to keep your whole body fit.

Shannon I know right

Sandra (sanlema) Getting ready for the back to school here. 5 of my kids go to school and the 3 little ones stay at home with me.

Reviews in Chalk is my blog about children's literature. NO SELF PROMOTION INTENDED WITH THIS POST (actually the platform is booklikes, that does not allows advertising as an option), but the blog it's only a few days old and I would appreciate any comments or suggestions by you, kids book lovers. :) Thank you!

message 14: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 781 comments Mod
A little self-promotion is fine, anyway. :)

I bet it feels really empty when five of the kids are in school?

message 15: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanlema) Yeah, it feels kind of empty. I feel like I can do a lot of stuff because I'm only with 3 of them. :)
We made up when the rest comes back anyway, Running from soccer practice, to football practice, to a cross country meeting, and so on...

I don't doubt that in the least.

Sounds great... Did your team win?

Sorry for the slow reply; I had no computer for the past few days, and only limited accessability on my Kindle (which I'm new to using, and takes me ages to navigate).

message 19: by Madeline (new)

Madeline Reynolds | 69 comments We came in 3rd in the tournament :)

I just wanted to take a moment to say "happy holidays," to everyone in this group.

So, merry and blessed whatever you're celebrating this holiday season... Whether you celebrated Hannukka or the Winter Solstice, or are celebrating Christmas, or even if you celebrate something else entirely.

I hope your celebrations go well, or went well, if they're over by the time you read this.

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you can look back on 2015 as being a great year. If so, I hope 2016 is even better. But, if not, then I hope things improve for you in 2016.

message 23: by Jen (new)

Jen Garrett | 148 comments Thanks! What did you like best about 2015?

message 24: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 781 comments Mod
My favourite things about 2015 were:

*moving to a place where I can hear the ocean all the time.
*Making my books available in paperback, at last.
*The fun trip I took to the aquarium in September with some of my family.

How about you?

message 25: by Jen (new)

Jen Garrett | 148 comments Highlights of 2015:

*Having great speakers at my local writing group, and being a speaker at a local middle school
*SCBWI events I participated in
*Watching my kids reach religious milestones

Those are great things to be able to look back on when you think about last year! I hope you have wonderful things like that to look back on at the end of 2016 too. :)

message 27: by Madeline (new)

Madeline Reynolds | 69 comments I agree with Victoria! I would have to say that my highlights of 2015 were:
Landing my crush
Drafting a novel that I really believe in
Making new friends
Being the star of my soccer team

I just wanted to say...

Regardless of what you celebrated, or how you celebrated it, I hope you had a very happy holiday season!

Also... Happy new year! If 2016 was a bad year for you, I hope 2017 is a better one. If 2016 was a good year for you, I hope 2017 is even better than last year was.

message 34: by Mystic Orange (new)

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) Have you heard the game Keep and Throw? It is a game where you are given 2 nouns and you get to decide which one you'd keep and which one you'd throw.

So the first person will go:
Aardvark and Abacus

The second one will go:
Keep: Abacus
Throw: Aardvark
Pen and Pencil

The third one will go:
Keep: Pen
Throw: Pencil

Cheese and Tuna.

Then the game continues.

No, I haven't. But it does sound fun. I'll start a thread for it, and maybe someone will want to play...

I write children's stories and have collaborated with artists to make over 60 fine books. I would like to make more books. I am looking for an illustrator willing to illustrate a story for 50% of future royalties. I have many stories, poems, fairy tales, folk tales and animal fables. Let me know if you are interested and I will send a few stories your way.
