Savanes | 2107 comments That's great Joanne. You should try to run all the way now. I'm sure you can do it. We tend to underestimate our body's ressources.

@Lynn I wish I could sing!!! Congrats on your show!

message 502: by Maree (new)

Maree Berends | 17 comments Hey great effort on the 5km run. Once you get started it gets addictive. i love the high u get afterwards and the energy it gives you. That's how I feel . however at the beginning of trsining to do a rum it can be a little exhausting! I usually do my 5kms around 34mins but I don't have heaps of hills in my area.

This might interest the drinkers in this group, lol

Yeah, it's those sleepless nights hanging out over the toilet bowl that get to you, hahaha

message 504: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Thanks!!

Maree, that was my first official 5k, I figure I can only get better! The next one is in two weeks.

Cathie, I just got a bottle of rum as a gift...maybe I will try a little rum with my runs! ;)

Congrats Joanne! I'm with Lynn. :) I'm a bit jealous, but not enough to get off the couch just yet. Lol. I think I need to work on my motivation.

message 507: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Lol Kristie! I will have to update my picture to one of my medals...maybe that will motivate you!!!

message 508: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments The medals are grand aren' they Joanne. I got one last year for the ScotiaBank Run; totally cool! Almost makes me want to go in each run just for the medal...almost, lol.

message 509: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I want to wear them all the time!!! They are good reminders of what I achieved!

message 510: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I'm very proud of what you have achieved Joanne; watching your progress through your comments here has been so inspiring!

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I second you Cathie, and I'm really happy that this group allows sharing such personal and important traits of our lives. Joanne, thanks for sharing this progress here :)

message 512: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Thanks guys! I'm actually amazed that I'm running at all, let alone entering races! It's my 5 year anniversary of moving to Canada this week; I asked my Mum today what she would have thought if 5 years ago someone had said I would be doing this and she laughed. Which is ok, because I never imagined myself running even 5 months ago, let alone 5 years! Canada really has changed me!!

message 513: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments @Joanne, I like your picture!! :D

Savanes | 2107 comments Hey,

I found this link on another group. It's the 25 Signs You’re Addicted To Books... It's kind of hilarious.

I especially like #3 "Sometimes it's more subtle", #13 and #24. Enjoy!!

message 526: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Looks like I'm going to have a book hangover tomorrow! I'm forcing myself to put it down and go to sleep.

message 527: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Which book did you end up putting down Joanne?

message 528: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Shadow of Night. It was incredibly hard to get out of bed this morning!

message 529: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Lol, Joanne; I know that feeling :-)

message 530: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments oh, me too, I was having such reading hangover after Bitterblue, and now I'm on a verge of next one with Hunger Games... LOL

message 531: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Well, i think a book hangover is the best type of hangover to have, lol!

So I just finished Me Before You and I'm in the middle of The Storyteller. I feel like I need therapy!! or at least a much lighter book to read. :)

message 534: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments You definitely need a light book Kristie!!

message 535: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Love the cartoon Kristie! lol. So true!

I'll suggest The Sugar Queen The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen to you for a light read. Magical Realism (my favourite genre).

message 536: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6820 comments Mod
Thanks!

message 537: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments @Cathie, there was a time I read tons of Magical Realism, so I gladly added your recommendation to my TBR :)

message 538: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments @Kristie, yesterday I came across The Kitchen Daughter by Jael McHenry . I added it to my A-Z challenge, I haven't read it yet, but from the synopsis it looks as Magic Realism as well and a lighter read.

message 539: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I love Magical Realism; it's always light and a feel good read and the genre I go to after "heavy" reads.

message 540: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I totally agree, these books are really uplifting and usually help me to distance myself from the reality for a bit :), very therapeutic

I'm gonna be missing in action over the weekend (work related), don't miss me too much! ;)

Cathie has kindly agreed to take over the Life after Life additional read for me.

Has anyone else noticed how much grey there is on our book covers for this month's reads?? I know it's quite random, but now that I've noticed it, I can't stop noticing.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson Quiet The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain Life After Life by Kate Atkinson Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James

The only one not in the grey theme is Cinder!

message 545: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I'm reading this version of Life After Life Life After Life by Kate Atkinson so at least that breaks up a little bit of my grey ;-).

Aww...that cover is pretty!

message 547: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Kristie wrote: "Aww...that cover is pretty!"

I love it; everytime I look at it I smile. And there's a little grey bunny on the back that is just as adorable. It's interesting how different covers can be.

message 548: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Guess who did a 15k this morning?! I went to register for the 5k on Friday and the organiser persuaded me to go for the 15k...I'm still alive!!!
