So, I've recently been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, per Pat's recommendation. He's pretty obsessed with this series from what I read on his blog and see on The Story Board. I never watched it, I was a little young for it in the 90's to be honest. So besides tittering with the boyfriend at the fashion of the 90's...something I try to forget, I've noticed a few parallels with KKC...actually.

Beware of show spoilers below if you havent watched it and intend too. (Its totally on Netflix if you have it...)

Anyway, one of the shows main characters is Willow, who kinda gets downplayed through out the series, but eventually you find out is a super badass witch, probably more badass than the main character really. She generally isn't very confident and eventually falls in love with another witch. Anyway - eventually during the second to last season, Willow's girlfriend, who she is deeply in love with is killed. This pretty much makes Willow go all super witch badass and she absorbs too much evil power, something along those lines, you can get a better synopsis from wikipedia if you havent seen it. Anyway, she gains all this power, from sucking the knowledge out of black magic spell books. (Interesting right?) and then, she kills some demon who gives her super empathy and she can feel the pain of the entire world (basically) after which, this very good character throughout the whole series, decides the world should end, because, it's in too much pain. (Hmmm, sounds familiar....) Then as she's going about doing this, she is eventually stopped, by her best friend who tells her how much he loves her whether she is bad or good, blah blah, sappy moment for everyone. Interestingly, this character happens to have...wait for it...only one eye. LOL.

I thought it was interesting that there were so many similarities. What do you all think about that?

Made me think also that if there is a connection between Haliax and Iax, that maybe Lanre killed Iax and that led to him feeling all the pain and unhappiness Iax/Jax suffered.

But yah, even if it has nothing to do with KKC I can see where Pat drew some inspiration from.

Actually another interesting parallel is the character Dawn, who joins the series later. (not sure if you watched it or not)

At first I was like WTF? Buffy cant just have a sister this late in the show after they made waves about her being an only child in like season 2 or something like that.

But it turns out everyone was just given "magic" memories and Dawn was implanted close to Buffy for protection....anyway, her character is the embodiment of a key that opens a door to other dimensions or something like that. Thought it was very Lackless-esque.

LOL! @ Chris

I actually like Willow better as Vamp Willow and Dark Willow, shows how badass she could be.

Bored Now...LOL

And yes, that scene was about as epic as it gets in Buffy.

And now I shall triple post again....

Not only is it contagious, it is apperantly a disease one cannot rid themselves of...

Another parallel with Lanre, Buffy at one point is actually killed during a fight and in the next season, Willow resurrects her. After which Buffy is sorta depressed since she was actually in Heaven not hell.

I've been noticing a lot of character similarities between the two obviously...hopefully thats not just obsession interjection...

Totally agree with some of these comparisons. Dawn & Lackless. Haliax and Buffy (lol, what a mix!).

I love how Willow is the only one who can put up a fight with Glory as well.

Right, Willow is probably my favorite character from the show in all honesty. I think her character build is most interesting at least.

I've wondered how much of Glory's back story could apply to something like the Creation War as well. The way she was expelled from their dimension due to her being overpowered and all that. Wonder if that could apply to someone like Iax actually.

I've also wondered how much something like when Giles kills Ben, could relate to Kvothe killing a king.

I mean, thats speculation, not a parallel, but it'd definitely feel like a justified reason for killing an innocent person. Which is something we're all obviously struggling with reconciling in some of our other threads LOL.

and again, three for three.

I've also considered how something like Glory could have effected Elodin when he was chancellor

and even be effecting the current Chancellor at the end of WMF.

huh? huh?

EDIT:

I'm just going to edit so as not to futher my infectious disease of posting constantly.

But another character you could draw many comparisons with is Faith and Denna.
