message 2: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments I don't know how they plan to make this story line last.

The ending of last night's episode made it a little more clear to me.
(view spoiler)

OMGosh Charlene, I thought the same thing! They just came pouring out of that house! It gave me the heebie jeebies...

Looks fascinating to me. It starts on ..."

I'm planning to watch this show too.

message 5: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments What channel is that Bates show going to be on?

message 6: by Mark (new)

Mark Butcher | 17 comments Compelling show. We're up to episode 7 in the UK. I keep suspecting random characters as possible 'followers'. James Purefoy exudes evil.

message 7: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments He does exude evil!

I saw the first episode of the bates hotel its on demand I didn't love it to be honest.. my favorite show right now is Vikings on history..

So the following is starting to annoy me..from online he has this huge cult with helicopters and mansions and kill whenever he says..cops and everybody else follows him..wtf

message 9: by David (new)

David Brown (r2drivenimpala) | 94 comments It seems to me like The Following is just a rip off of Red John from The Mentalist, only the audience knows who the killer is. I only watched the first episode, though.

message 10: by Leigh (last edited Mar 07, 2013 02:12PM) (new)

Leigh Lane (leighmlane) | 74 comments I've never watched The Mentalist so the plot feels fairly original to me.

I'm also wondering where the story is going to go from here. Joe Carroll mentioned that only the "first chapter" has transpired and he's "only just begun." I'm curious to see how the writers continue the story from this point.

I've enjoyed the series so far, but if they don't do something new and different with the story line, it's going to fizzle out rather quickly.

message 11: by Teresa (new)

Teresa B. | 883 comments I agree Leigh every week kevin bacon gets caught up in his plots and someone dies because of him.. he never wins and Joe carroll makes all things happen and no one can change it..I sort of want the kid ..raped and killed from one of his followers..lol..I know terrible but getting tired of him calling every shot

message 12: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Willox | 92 comments Not quite sure I'm hoping for the same outcome as Teresa there but I've watched them all and the show needs a jolt for sure.
I feel like there is a great show in there but they haven't found it yet. The cult stuff is so hard to get on board with that some more of the backstory of why people would just throw their lot in with this looney would help.
They should commandier the walking dead's writers to slow the whole train down.....before the shark is jumped.

message 13: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments For me, the shark is walking around on dry land...I've pretty much given up on the show.

message 14: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 1131 comments IM not getting the same feeling as most of you are. I have thought about how Bacon's character seems to be thwarted at very turn, but that's not really the case. There have been little leaps forward only to have a few more setbacks courtesy of Joe. It certainly does have a lot of life left in it. But where Joe is manipulating most of everything, there are other elements that are going to happen. Weak links in Joe's armor which as a few of his followers. Some of them realizing that he is not what they thought he was.

Roderick is one of them, He doesn't want to take any crap from Joe. Roderick and Emma are both on the cusp of turning, though it probably wont be till next season. And when Bacon realizes that his former gf, Molly, is in on it, that will also be a turning point.
My little predictions.

message 15: by Carly (new)

Carly (queen_of_darkness) | 175 comments I thought this was a great tv series, and can't wait to see more of it, in the future.

message 16: by Squire (new)

Squire (srboone) | 1043 comments I liked the first four episodes. The middle six were the same. Nobody knew how to function without a computer except Kevin Bacon. He figured out the clues, arrived just in time to shoot some extras, letting the main baddies get away. Then the last four were terrific.

The ending didn't surprise me. The first season 24 ended with the terrorists killing Jack's wife, so I wasn't surprised to see to Claire get it (or did she?) in the end.

Whether Bacon survives of Mike Weston takes up the chase of Joe's Following, it should be an interesting next season.

Jana Deleon | 21 comments I finally got so bored, I didn't finish watching it. I need to look it up on Wikipedia and see how it ends.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm 11 episodes in to the first season at this point (been watching on Netflix). I was really impressed with the first 3-4 episodes. Couldn't get enough.

My only problem is that after episode 4, (view spoiler)

In not so many words, that’s really how I feel for the most part. It’s one of those terrible things you know is terrible but just can’t look away. At least, that’s how I felt until episode 13. After that I stopped watching. I’m done.

You have more resilience than I. Despite how screwed up the show became, I watched to the end of season 1 determined to stop watching after that. But the last half of the finale episode was nearly as good as the first ep. So I gave it another chance season 2. And it sucked me in again by starting off interesting and then quickly sliding into mediocrity. If that show had been a British one with like 6 eps a season, it would have been epic. But their one-note story just became ridiculous stretched out over 15 eps a season.
