Evan | 14 comments Why is there an error msg on the "become a fan" button, on this author's entry?

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Evan, that's a question for the Feedback group, not the librarians -- in fact, there's an open thread on that bug already.

Evan | 14 comments Well, I had alerted GR help about it and, either a librarian has fixed it or someone at GR. it works now. I came to this group because a different librarian I know told me to come here. Like doctors, I get second or third opinions. WTF do I know? There are 10 million groups here and I'm totally new at this. Thanks.

GR must have fixed it. Librarians don't have that ability.

Welcome to GR. :) You'll figure out the lay of the land soon enough.

Evan | 14 comments Also, I went to that thread. And nobody there has a solution either. I leave it to the site engineers, or whatever they're called.

Evan | 14 comments Well, Rivka and Cait, thanks.

I am very much an unwitting librarian. I once tried to fix something a few weeks ago and found out I had to be a librarian to fix it. So, as I was simultaneously submitting my application to be a librarian, one of my GR friends who is a librarian came on and fixed the error anyway. So, I was kind of thinking that me being a librarian was a redundancy.
Actually, I've been on GR since last fall and I still don't have the lay of the land. The site rather effectively confuses me a good deal of the time.

I guess some people (*cough*who have no lives and spend way too much time here*cough*) catch on faster than others. ;)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Evan, There's no need to worry about redundancy. There's plenty for librarians to do here. It's pretty much never ending. We welcome new librarians, who can spend as much or as little time as they like working on things.

I've been here forever and I know "the lay of the land" pretty well, but I'm always learning new things, or being reminded of things I probably once knew but forgot. There's a lot on this site!
