Just adding a cross-reference in this section regarding the about-to-be-published book on writing, Writing Fantasy Heroes.

A nice discussion from the editor and some of the contributors (authors who are members of this group) can be found here:

A.R. | 78 comments I purchased this a while ago. My two favorite essays in the book are:

C.L. Werner's "Monsters--Giving the Devils Their Due" which talks about creating more drama/tension by not making your heroes indomitable fighting machines.

Brandon Sanderson's "Writing Cinematic Fight Scenes". Its a good primer for building workable fight scenes.

Also, the formatting on this book is very good.
