Carla Krueger (carlahkrueger) The Listopia list for books you can read quite quickly, ideally in one sitting, got a bit out hand when War and Peace was added!

So, I thought this might be a good place to come up with a better list in time for the Easter weekend.

A few (eclectic) titles to get us started are The Hobbit, Flanimals and Fight Club!

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Flanimals by Ricky Gervais Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

Any suggestions?

Shannon (sianin) | 453 comments I just listened to the audiobook version of Push while I was driving to a meeting in another town. Took about 5 and a half intense hours. Simple enough story to follow and very well written but as a warning tough subject matter and lots of foul language. It suits it though. Exceptional book, I just don't know who I could recommend it to, BUT you could definitely read it in a weekend.

Amanda Zamorano (memandyme) Girl With a Pearl Earring was a really quick read for me. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Finished in a day to be honest. But, I binge read.

Mariab | 3059 comments Sorry to ask, but, what is "binge reading"?

message 10: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Sep 05, 2014 07:08PM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Like binge eating or binge drinking. Lots of it, really fast, all at once. And in spurts, not consistent.

BINGE
1
a : a drunken revel : spree
b : an unrestrained and often excessive indulgence (a buying binge)
c : an act of excessive or compulsive consumption (as of food)

Lynne | 54 comments I enjoyed reading The Skeleton in the Closet on a plane trip which took almost two hours. I was just left with the last few pages to read in the taxi! Perfect start to a trip away :)

message 18: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Here are a couple of VERY different books which read quickly...

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry - a very sweet, sentimental kind of book that is not without surprises and twists. A book for readers that will make you want to read more.

Annihilation - a much darker, apocalyptic type of sci-fi, but at only about 200 pages it is a fast read. Plenty creepy and suspenseful, but a little bit dry too as it is (deliberately) a little impersonal.

Janice (jamasc) | 59951 comments I have Blackberry Winter and hope to get to it soon.

message 22: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Sarah Jio's books are pretty average for me (I've actually stopped reading her bc of that) but I did really enjoy Blackberry Winter.

message 23: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Ooh, I see that Hadrian's Wall by William Dietrich is described as a mix of Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire: An Epic Novel of the Battle of Thermopylae...I absolutely loved that book.
