Do I fight sleep when I'm sleepy and can't sleep when I want to sleep?

Do I keep buying books when I have enough books for several lifetimes?

Do I watch NCIS episodes that I've seen many times instead of watching some shows on DVD like I should?

Anyone else have any whys?

(Cause NCIS rocks like no other? hehe)

I'm like you with sleep. Why do I keep saying 5 more minutes when I know I should be heading to dreamland?

Why is the SciFi channel trying to hide as if it was shameful from it's roots? What the heck is SyFy anyway???

And why did Joss Whedon give up Firefly to go make Dollhouse? That one I'll never get.

Why aren't there a lot of interracial couples on TV shows?

Why does it seems as if the time flies, when I am not at work?

Why do some of the good shows, come on late a night or in the mid morning, when I can't watch them?

Why are there so many reality shows on TV?

Oh my gosh. Dollhouse is such a travesty. I feel like going into mourning for the old, quality Joss Whedon shows.

I feel you on the Sci Fi Channel. Sigh!

Yes NCIS rocks. Watching the same episode is still better than watching new episodes of other shows that are substandard.

Exactly! I really tried to enjoy it but it's just horrific and subpar for what Joss can do. Not sure what happened there or why he went back to Fox in the first place. :-/

And that's so true! The same episodes are still enjoyable to watch every time. Great ride.

Arch, you reminded me of another why.

Why is it every time there is an IR couple featured on a show, the execs give into the vocal minority and can them in the most dumbest way? And THEN pretend like it never happened? Why can't there be a happy IR couple (and yes you can still have conflict with a happy couple with out breaking them up and putting them with other people ad nauseum).

Also why has the latest offering of movies in the theaters been less than mediocre?

Rory Cochrane is no longer on CSI. I don't get tired of watching the episodes with him on them.

Why are they remaking TV shows or turning TV shows into movies?

message 13: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Sees Love in All Colors (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 7331 comments Mod
Rory Cochrane is very yum. I was devastated when Speed died.

Yes, why the remakes????

So agree with you on reality shows.

Yup! I'm still mad about how wrong they did JT and Liberty. >:-( And now Liberty is barely there except for an episode or two.

Yeah most movies are sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots, adaptations, etc. I have a feeling their goal is to remake every movie & tv show made in the past few decades.

I'd like to know why also, Arch. I was just rewatching Bad Boys the other days and movies used to be FUN. Especially back when Bruckheimer and Simpson (RIP) worked with Michael Bay. They were not only fun but original stuff that you hadn't seen before. Now everything is just a repeat and a pretty subpar one at that. :-/ I think there's no originality in Hwood and/or they are really cutting back on costs so they hire cheap screenwriters/friends to rewrite existing material. It's the same situation with the reality shows, too.

Rory Cochrane, wasn't he whatshisname on Empire Records who was using the record store money? I just dated myself there but I love that movie like crazy (ssssugar high). I didn't know he was on CSI.

Yes Rory played on Empire Records. I didn't see the movie but bought it a few weeks ago, from the library.

Rory played Speed.

As far as the sleep, I read somewhere at the your body gives you mini rest breaks anyway when you fight sleep and that's why you're not sleepy later on.
I, too, have far too many books.
Why can't someone make something that makes you like exercising?

Yes I miss the really good action movies from the 80s and 90s. They are trying to do some old school action movies now, but they are using wrestler guys who don't really encourage my attention (unlike The Rock).

Arch I think most movies based on romance novels suck. I think it's because the movie industry has picked up the lack of respect for the genre from literary snobs.

Lonestarpt I used to collect cook books and recipes a lot. I petered off because I realized they don't make me cook any more than I do. :)

I have cook books that I have never cook from. I like to pretend that I am a chef in my kitchen. If I want to know how to do something. I call on kin folks. I've learned how to cook from watching my grandmother. She had let me cook my first meal, when I was 12.

message 37: by new_user (new)

new_user Learned from my mom too, Arch, although not that young. She let me laze around for a good long time, LOL.

Eugenia,

Please don't get offended by what I am about to say. Your mother was wrong for telling you that. She should have taught you girly stuff.

My mother died when I was one and my grandmother raised me. I am happy that she has taught me girly stuff. She wasn't teaching me how to be a maid, she was teaching me how to take care of a house.

I'm glad that I was taught how to cook, clean, etc. Those things comes in handy when you get out on your own. If I didn't know how to cook, I would be eating out all the time and I don't believe in wasting money. Every once in a while, I'll eat out, but that's what cooking is for. Some women on my job, thinks its strange that I cook. They like to go eat out all the time, breakfast, lunch and dinner. All that money they spend like that, they could use it for something worth it.

I guess your mother was trying to say that you don't have to be cleaning up behind your husband. That's where the maid came from. Well, I don't believe in being a maid behind my husband either. I'm a firm believer in 50/50. I don't want to marry a man that's not trainable. If he doesn't know how to cook. Then he can learn. I would hope he knows how to clean a house, wash clothes, etc. I will even teach my children at a young age how to do things. I don't believe in picking up behind my teenage children.

message 39: by PT (new)

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments My mom's a sucky cook. She's the next to last in a family of eight. My aunts are all GREAT cooks, but not her. Anyway, I think I have undiagnosed ADD because I am constantly screwing up recipes. Things start off OK, but some where along the way I either skip a step or forget that I was cooking altogether. I left a pot on the stove so long once that the smoke alarms went off. I generally try to set timers since I have burned one dish too many. Anyway, I think it's cheaper for me to eat out than throwing away the food from the recipes that I have screwed up.

message 40: by new_user (new)

new_user LOL, Shunda, you sound like one of my friends. She couldn't even boil an egg when I met her, LOL, but she's having to learn now. Eating out is expensive.

My mom never actually set out to teach me. I picked up some by watching her and then later I asked her because I can't imagine living without our food. I could never survive on American food, no offense, LOL.

message 41: by new_user (new)

new_user Hey, I'm handy around the house too, more than the guys, actually, LOL. High-five, Eugenia! ;)

message 42: by Arch , Mod (new)

Arch | 6707 comments Mod
I had this talk with my sister a few days ago, in regards to cleaning up behind a husband and children boys.

The boys will learn early how to pick up behind themselves. As for the husband, if he wants to be a slob, he will learn quick that I don't play that. He would be wondering what happen to his things. They would be outside waiting for the garbage truck.

message 43: by PT (new)

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments Now, I feel completely useless. I can't cook and I'm not handy. Heck, I not really even eye candy. Let's throw me a pity party.

Being handy is good as well. I like to be handy in the house as well around a car.

message 45: by new_user (new)

new_user I can't really say I'm as handy around a car, unfortunately. I still need to learn, but I know how to call a tow truck. Kekeke, LOL. JK.

Yeah, I'm interested in cooking more because of my tastes than anything else. :) And I'm naturally a neat freak, so I never think about the cleaning aspect, LOL. It makes no difference; I'll clean anyway.

message 46: by Arch , Mod (new)

Arch | 6707 comments Mod
Lonestarpt,

I can see if you can't cook and is not a handy person, but don't look at yourself as being unattractive. Everyone is beautiful, maybe not to the same pair of eyes, but don't think that a pair of eyes isn't seeing your beauty.

message 47: by new_user (new)

new_user LOL, Shunda, everyone has their strengths and their weaknesses and different experiences. I wouldn't worry about it. Whatever works for you works for you.

new_user Eugenia wrote: "I always think I am exactly what I need to be, if I needed something more God would guide me to seek it out..."

I don't know if I would agree with that. There's always room for improvement, and I think it's a little complacent to expect anyone to change your life for you that you won't change for yourself first. (Not speaking about household things.)
