Kind of a different choice. So many on the list are so serious and heavy. I haven't read this before as I'm not really a fan of animals that act like people. It's possible I'm overthinking it? Is there supposed to be more to it than I'm getting?
Finished this one and did like it better by the end. The metaphor of the piper was nice enough. Toad reminded me too much of an actual person I know and I mostly wanted to throttle him for most of the story. I gave Alice's Adventures in Wonderland a quick read too. It's on the list of 50 and seemed to pair well with this one. My previous experience with Alice was purely Disney-esque.
Happy Reading!
