Anyone else backing this project?

only 50 hours left and now it is confirmed Pat will be getting involved as they reached that pledge goal, (not gonna lie, I waited til they hit the goal) He's even going to do a comic for it - at least 12 pages.

If you aren't a gamer and just want to see what Pat writes you can do the $5.00 pledge (which you get a heartfelt thanks for) then add $8.00 (A total of $13.00 if you dont want to do the math) for which you can get the comic alone. Its a digital print, but still should be cool.

I guess Pat is designing a character for this game and helping with storyline. I can't wait to see how it turns out, especially since they are going to make it so you can play on your Linux OS. Which I am always pissed the gaming industry ignores.

Anyway /end rant.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone else is jazzed about this project.

Ren Kiritani | 16 comments I read all the project, almost bought it. But i dont have the time to play, and it will be released only in 2014?

message 3: by Kevin (new)

Kevin 2015 even.
Thats just 2 years. Thats really not that much development time for a game like this.

I backed this project on the first day even before Pat's involvement was announced.

Super excited for this.

Jessica | 117 comments I read about this on Pat's blog. We haven't backed it yet, but our household would like to.

I have asked around some of my gamer friends about the game that they did before (planscape: torment?). Did anyone on here play it? I am interested in the game. I think it came out in 99?

December 2014 at the earliest Renan. But thats because, as Kevin said, they haven't even really gotten a chance to work on it. They needed some funding first.

But you don't have to buy the game to get the comic!

@Kevin, did you play Planescape? I think I might have been too young for that game in 1999, either that, or I was playing TombRaider or something LOL.
(I was obsessed with that game for a long long long time, along with Myst...that f'ing game! GRR)

@Jessica, if you guys are going to back it, the time is now. I think this is the last day! It had 50 hours left yesterday when I did my pledge.
I never played Planescape and it's quite possible I wont have a lot of time to even give this game a fair run, but I figured, what the hell? *shrug* I only pledged $33, $25 to get the digital copy of the game and $8.00 to get the comic. I like to support a company that will put a nice game out on Linux, but also, I'm sorta obsessed with Pat's writing. I'll probably buy anything he writes, he's by far my favorite living author.

Ren Kiritani | 16 comments @Amber, I will back it in the last hour =x, only because Pat called us, his fan army, in his new Blog post. =P

LOL! Oh yah, we're in the army now!

Cool, I'm hoping they break the kickstarter record. Go InXile! They are pretty darn close!

They got a lot more funding than they expected I think. Which is really awesome! And has me excited for the game.

No, I didn't at the time. I somehow missed it. I had just started gaming on PC (had a series of nintendo consoles before that) and I was playing a lot of Starcraft and Age of Empires around that period. A completely different type of game. I did however play the Baldur's Gate games back then, which have a lot of similarities and still rank as my most favorite games ever.

I am, however, currently playing PS:T and it is great. :) It's just $9.99 on GoG.com, the best source for old (and some new indie) games out there IMO.

Oh yah, Starcraft, that was some amazing stuff when it came out.

I love WoW III as well. I think spent half that game clicking on sheep.

I actually never played Baldurs Gate until last year, my boyfriend forced me to play it because it was one of his all time favorites as well. I did like it too. It was fun, especially for something that was not cutting edge at all by the time I played it. LOL.

Thanks for the info on GoG, never been there, will have to check it out, I usually grab everything off Ebay.

Kevin This is a rather interesting interview on the game with Pat and Colin McComb, the lead designer.

GoG has the advantage (or disadvantage I guess, depending on your POV) that it only sells digital downloads. So no second hand discs or hassle with shipping and stuff. They've also done some work, making sure the games run on modern hardware and operating systems. It's also completely DRM free. No Linux support though.

Only 7 hours left to the kickstarter! We breached 4 million including Paypal donations, so we hit the next tier for expansion.

SWEET!

They're still trying to break the record for most funded game on kickstarter though.
I hope they crack 4.5 million, since then we get our own Character "Stronghold"

That'd be pretty sweet!

Cool! I am really looking forward to this game after Pat's blog yesterday so curious about the character he writing!

message 14: by Ren (new)

Ren Kiritani | 16 comments Yep.
The Pat Character got me.
"He said it was weird. Not the sort of character that normally gets written into games."

This must be awsome !

Aryanne (tangentialmind) | 19 comments I fell in line to the tune of $25. Wish I could have gone in at the $125 level instead just for that cloth map -I know you feel me Amber.
Also, I bought Planescape: Torment when it came up on Pats blot and it is really fun!

Oh man, I know. The map is nice, but $125.00 was too much for my pocketbook to take. LOL.
