Are there any of the In Death stories where, once all the dust settled and the mystery was solved, just had too many holes in it, even in a futuristic society? The motivation of the killer was weak or what they pulled off seemed improbable or everyone around him/her would have tagged the person as certifiable.

Can you name any and tell us what just didn't pass your smell test?

Dawn | 3250 comments Fantasy in Death is mine. I absolutely could not get into the main plot, even with the futuristic nature of the series, to believe a game could decapitate a player.

Maybe that's why it's on my least favorite list.

Dawn | 3250 comments Yes it is definitely on my least favorite list. Fortunately for me, the sub-plots of my least favorites keeps me reading.

That's so true because the last scene (Eve and Roarke fighting together) makes the book worth the re-read.

Elizabeth | 127 comments Definitely agree with what you all said about Fantasy (I remember even asking my "geek" brothers if such a thing was at all possible!) including Jonetta's comment about the fight at the end of the book! :-)

As good as Origin in Death was, the only part that I found a little unbelievable was not (view spoiler)
Sorry, kind of went of on a tangent there!

Elizabeth, you've nailed another book on my least favorite list for the reason you outlined! It gave me brain cramps trying to imagine the repercussions.

Dawn | 3250 comments See? Again, another where I really didn't like the main plot, but loved the sub-plot. The connection with Roarke's new found relatives and of course the interaction between the characters. And I must agree with Elizabeth and Jonetta, brain aching concepts in tat one lol

Elizabeth | 127 comments To be perfectly honest (don't kill me!) :-) I am not really a fan of mystery/thriller/cop genera. I started In Death because I am a romance girl, and liked Nora Roberts' writings. So for me, it's almost always about the sub-plot. I enjoy the series so much because of the interactions with the characters, not just Eve and Roarke, but Dr. & Mr. Mira, Feeney, Mavis, Peabody, etc. (Even Summerset & Galahad on for fun!) For example, one of my favorites in the whole series is Portrait in Death... and I can't even remember off the top of my head who the killer actually was. What I remember is how awesome it was seeing this whole new side to Roarke, with his family, and how it impacted his relationship with Eve.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments I am soooooooooooooooooooo with you Elizabeth! I mostly hate mystery books... a lot!! I haven't read any other cop books, I don't think. I like my mysteries in movie or TV format. (Castle!!!!!!) Mostly, I don't care whodunit, and don't even bother to try and figure it out. I definitely find some of the mystery story lines interesting, but that's just not why I'm reading at all. I, too, read the books for all the characters and the romance. And I completely agree! Portrait was amazing!!!
