Wow! Thanks for sharing the article. It's true. Revenge is a common theme but also walks a very fine line if it is serves as a main character's motivation.

I think the distinction of revenge on another's behalf versus for oneself made by Krentz applies. It's very hard to feel sympathetic for a person bent on revenge for a personal injury and almost belies an emotional or personal weakness rather than a misguided notion of loyalty which is more of a strength.
