Hi! I'm starting to write a story based in Kentucky. I've never been, never known anyone from there, and I need information. I need the history, the difference in culture between the regions, their common actions, events, mannerisms, sayings, etc.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew a few good sites for that? Or if anyone was from Kentucky themselves or had written something based there and wouldn't mind answering some of my questions.

I was born in Kentucky, but I'm afraid my memories are limited to specific areas. Depends on exactly what you are looking for. I lived in Cave City.

I'm from Kentucky, born and raised in Owensboro, and I currently live outside Louisville. Like K.A. said above, it really depends on what area you're interested in, but I'd be happy to try and answer some of your questions if you want to PM me. :)

If Kentucky is not absolutely essential, why not set it somewhere you know about? However much research you do there is always the risk you'll get caught out by some silly minor detail that will spoil it for those in the know.
