Ahmed Raza (securedprofile) I am not posting here because I forgot the name of a book.NO!
I want to know the titles of all the books wherein teens get stranded on an island. Such books are fun to read. I have read Treasure Island, "Shipwrecked!" and "Stranded" by Enid Blyton long ago, so please don't include them! Thanks in advance! :D

message 2: by Janelle (new)

Janelle (janelle5) One that I read years ago is To The Wild Sky by Ivan Southall. It's probably a little hard to find now, but it fits your request for teens stranded on an island. Sorry I can't hyperlink to it on my iPod.

Oh my, Kagama, do I ever remember that one! Both the movie and the book, which I kept furtively hidden between the covers of my Trapper Keeper. Hehehe.

"What are you reading?"

"Homework!"

Yeah I had books like that too.lol

I watched the movie recently-ish and despite being an adult had to pause every once in a while and blush. I mean I have seen worse (sex-wise)...only this was a bit awkward and embarrassing to watch.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen | 599 comments And of course Lord of the Flies though those kids dont have much fun.

I saw the movie again not too long ago, and for me the most awkward thing was how YOUNG the actors seemed, when they had seemed sooooo grown-up to me the first time I saw it. eep.

Ahmed Raza (securedprofile) @Laura I was talking about Enid Blyton's Shipwrecked! . Thanks, I'll check out the blurb of Gordon's book.
@Andria thanks loads! You must be a librarian, and if you're not, you should be one!

Shanna_redwind | 852 comments Island Boxset Here's a link to the shipwreck series by Gordon Korman.

Static is the first in a series

Far North is a bit off of the deserted island theme, but they're stranded in the far north and I enjoyed it a fair bit.

Algernon (Darth Anyan) | 15 comments Adrift in the Pacific: Two Years Holiday : A group of boys find themselves adrift at sea, and after a terrible storm they are cast upon a deserted island, where they must learn to get along together to survive.

message 18: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I just happened to read Baby Island - a little silly, but ok.

I could come up with more (and better) if you don't mind adults having a little background influence.

message 19: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Oh, and To The Wild Sky for the link, and also, yes, Andria is a librarian. :)

Here's a few movie titles which (nearly) match and may have source novels:

The Savage is Loose
The Dove
Walkabout (not an island, but a desert)

message 33: by K.V. (new)

K.V. Johansen | 18 comments Someone already mentioned The Black Stallion, that's a good one, about a shipwrecked boy and an arab horse; he survives by remembering things he's read about survival, and manages to tame the horse and keep it alive as well. But a really great recent one I haven't seen mentioned yet is Terry Pratchett's Nation. That's a must-read. A young man returns home from his boy-becoming-man vigil to find the entire population of his island wiped out by a tsumami, and a shipwrecked bunch of "trouser-men", including a teenage girl. It's set in an alternate history version of our world in a Victorian-type era, and is in part about how he and the girl manage to assemble some survivors and deal with a rather nasty bunch from her ship's crew - but it's a lot more complicated than that, a very philosophical book as well as a great adventure story. Nation by Terry Pratchett The Black Stallion (The Black Stallion, #1) by Walter Farley

Avigail | 2 comments I recommend The Cay by Theodore Taylor.

message 35: by bookel (new)

bookel | 4018 comments Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, that someone mentioned above, is that technically an island? I didn't recall it as such...?

Stranded on an island.

I enjoy reading survival children's/YA fiction.
Others you may like (some may have already been mentioned, and I'm including both teens and those younger, and a few animals):
The sequel to The Cay. Timothy of the Cay
by Theodore Taylor.
Abel's Island by William Steig (it's a mouse, but still a good survival story).
Gordon Korman's Island series, all three are excellent: 1. Shipwreck. 2. Survival. 3. Escape.
Baby Island by Carol Ryrie Brink.
The Island by Gary Paulsen.
Tree Castle Island by Jean Craighead George.
The Adventurous Four by Enid Blyton.
Sweet Friday Island by Theodore Taylor.
The Castaway by Arthur J. Roth.
Two on an Island by Bianca Bradbury (it counts enough to me, two children and their dog get stranded on an island, good story).
Danny Dunn on a Desert Island by Jay Williams.
Magpie Island by Colin Thiele (despite that this is about a white-backed magpie bird, it is also a good survival story that is often overlooked).
Shipwrecked on Mystery Island by Roy Wandelmaier (similar to the choose your own adventure type story).
Nightmare Island by Ron Roy.
Shipwreck Bay by Marian Rumsey.
Stranded by Matt Christopher.
