Kat (thewonderlandofbooks) I am reading City of Bones right now and I was wondering what everyone else thought of the series.

I gave it a 2 out of 5 stars :/ I thought it was a really interesting story, but I absolutely could not STAND the writing. Really sad :(

I have a full review video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlSOZ...

I haven't read it yet ..... there's a few of us doing a buddy read of it in July, ready for when the movie comes out.
Feel free to join in the discussion when we start Kaitlyn http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Kat (thewonderlandofbooks) Thanks Lynn!

library_of_velaris (authorleighhbelle) | 16 comments I really like the story, but the writing isn't wonderful, although I've read much worse. What I like about them is that they are easy to escape into. They can be a bit predictable, but I read a lot of reviews before reading, so I was prepared for that, and I have enjoyed them all pretty well. I will be reading the last two soon and I'm excited to find out what happens.

Chelsea Morrison (chelsealouise07) I think the books are entirely okay. The story was pretty good, but I got tired of the writing pretty quick. I liked the 1st and 2nd books, but from then on, I wasn't very impressed.

Emily I love the whole series and spin-offs. I even met Cassandra Clare for my birthday. I will admit that the last couple of books were getting a little tiresome, but I still love the characters and story.

Rachel (Confessions of a Book Geek) (bookgeek90) | 1 comments I originally thought the love triangle spin-offs (twilight, hunger games, mortal instruments) was going to bore me, or the similar themes running throughout the books, but I'm really enjoying it. It's been a page turner for me, it can be predictable but I still want to read on to know what happens. I read a lot of chick lit and started to get very restless with it, so books along these lines are pulling me in. I want to see the movie but I'm already disappointed by Jace's character, he does not look like the Jace in my head!! It's escapism with a decent plot really isn't it?

Erica (rickie1974) | 80 comments i have read the first 2 and part of the 3rd...i don't usually say this but the movie i believe was even better than the book...i agree the writing is not great but we have to keep in mind it's for YA not adults...i am hoping to make it through the serious but having a rough time...

Ashley Dreyer (ashleydreyer) | 2 comments I've liked this series but thought that The Infernal Devices trilogy that she wrote was more compelling and enjoyed those books more.

Rebecca Van evera mackerman | 1 comments I've read all 5 books of TMI and the 3 Infernal Devices. Yes, the writing is for YA and sometimes it was hard, BUT Cassandra Clare did a great job on creating an entire world (Alicante), putting a new spin on the demon/downworlder element and coming up with shadowhunters. I thought the concepts were intriguing and creative. There are a lot of deep rooted story lines that seem to open a lot of threads should she choose to go there. I had a difficul time with the movie only because I thought Jace was miscast. Other than that the only problem I had was some important elements were rushed through and/or overlooked altogether. If you want a change from heavy reading but still have something that stimulates you, this is for you.
