I am reading this with Jenne. I started today and I'm already enjoying it

I will probably wait until later in the month. It is too short for most team challenges and my nephews are visiting next week so reading time is going to be slim.

I am looking forward to starting it though.

I downloaded it to my Kindle last weekend, it was on special for $2.99. I will finish , then I will start reading it.

Yep, just finished chapter 5. Will probably finish tomorrow.

I finished today. I did not like it very much, but I didn't want to be rude in my review so I didn't say anything bad about it. I don't want to spoil it for anybody else who isn't finished yet, but I'm ready to discuss it with whoever.

It was choppy. I think if the author (who is a really nice woman) had made it a novel instead of a novella, it would have been better.

I had so many issues with it. First of all, the heroine accepted that she was part of an ancient race of witches so fast. Second, if everyone had witch potential, shouldn't there be a lot more of them and incidences. The conflict keeping the couple apart was a tad contrived. I could go on and on, but I didn't enjoy it much either.


Question: The dreams she had in the beginning was more of an Englishman to me than French, right?

Why didn't Alyssa remember herself as Evangeline IF she had been dreaming of Mark. I know she was reborn but she remembered things about Mark.

If everyone has Witch potential, shouldn't their other half be drawn to them despite where they are geographically. Because I believe Mark and Alyssa were drawn to work together like fate.
do other humans dream about their other half?

Do other witches feel the power of others, why hadn't Alyssa felt other witches even after she was wakened by her soulmate Mark?

Why did Alyssa ask more questions about witches magic etc because she AND Collin seemed to accept everything in stride.

Alyssa never even considered that Mark could have an STD or have a wife before they had sex or even after.

The things that bothered me about the book:

1. The book reads like it was written by a 15-year-old, not an adult - somebody who knows what an office atmosphere is like because that meeting was ridiculous.

2. There is very little back story of the main characters, so I couldn't care less who these people were.

3. I am partial to historical fiction, and a modern story really has to have more than sarcastic dialog or failed attempts at wit to win me over.

4. You are right, there are a lot of holes in the story that did not match up. Mark said that you don't know you're a witch until you meet your soul mate for the first time and you develop your abilities together, well if that is true, then how would Mark have known that? He not only knew that, but he knew about the 3 brothers. Even if Alyssa was a reincarnated soul, you would think that Mark's memory would have been erased so they could start over together. Whatever.

5. Why are so many books these days filled with grammatical errors? Several times I read a sentence that was missing a word. It was clear each time what word was meant to be there, but why am I catching these things? I seriously need a job as a proofreader because I scarcely read a book these days that don't have 2 or 3 errors. This book had way more than 2 or 3. (hide spoiler)]
