I agree with you about your spoiler info and I agree with you about Travis. Based on these same issues I rated the book much lower because I think it sends a bad message and IMO is NOT a love story. I can see why someone would rate this book higher based on mere entertainment value and the actual writing itself was good. I just became really upset about the amount of women who seemed to idolized Travis after I read this and made this out to be some grand love story and those reactions impacted my overall rating. Does that make sense??

You have to read

Yes, it completely does, Heidi! I really just liked it for the entertainment value, like you said. But if I hadn't been so entertained, it would have gotten a lower rating. I have to hope that most women who would read this would agree with us about Travis--but who am I to judge? I just know he wouldn't be right for me! I was more concerned with young girls who don't know much about life yet idolizing him...
Maybe I'll change my mind a little after I read the next one, it tells the story from his POV.
And I mean, honestly, Abby wasn't a prize, either, lol! They were probably made for each other!

Oh yes they deserved each other if only so they did not impact anyone else's lives - hahaha! I think I originally rated this 2 or 3 stars but kept seeing review after review saying things like "I want to be Ms. Travis Maddox" or "Abby is so lucky" and I was like "Huh??" It also started to bother me that this is being marketed as a YA book (the sex scenes alone are not YA IMO) and I kept thinking what if my beautiful 16 year old niece read this and thought this was what love should be?? That may not the the right way to base a rating but it bothered me enough to lower mine eventually. Like I said, I get why people were entertained by the book and hate to be the champion of women's rights here - that is not really my thing.
Heidi, I've seen is classified as both YA and NA. I would definitely classify it as NA, because of the age and the sex scenes. Its graphic enough to not be YA IMO. I don't know why anyone would classify is as YA!

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, or page #, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!
