Jess | 3721 comments Hey, has anyone read this series by Colleen Gleason? I think its called the Gardella Vampire Chronicles. I was in BN the other day (surprise, surprise) lol, and I saw the first book The Rest Falls Away and I just bought it haha.

It's been on my TBR list for awhile, I just haven't gotten around to it. Any thoughts?

Sarah | 766 comments I like it, but consider it kind of fluffy. I call it "Victorian Buffy", if you ever watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's a cute series, and I really like one of the lead males, Max.

Jess | 3721 comments hmm interesting.. Buffy but Victorian lol. Maybe I shouldn't have bought the first one haha. Ah well, there's always PBS to get rid of the old and get some new!

Sarah | 766 comments I know, it's kinda funny. Slayers in ball gowns, lol! I do like the series, though, so I'd recommend reading the first before you trade it out. It's a change from all the darker, grittier urban fantasy and PNR I read.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I love that series. I think it is kind of original ... you know since it takes place in the 18th century or something. Anyway I really like the series and I am a bit sad it is over.

Sarah | 766 comments It's over? You mean the last one was it (As Shadows Fade)?

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 60 comments I finished the second book in the series. They are right its like buffy. Its cute a nice read I would say. I would recommend it.

message 8: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I will definitely read the first book before I trade it away. I do like the "fluffy" vamp books. It's nice to have those funny books thrown in to break up the sometimes monotony of the darker and more depressing PNR's.

I especially like Kimberly Raye's series. Too funny, a vampire match maker. Priceless.

Jess | 3721 comments Just to update: I read the first two books in this series and now I'm up to the 3rd and I love them!! It's definitely a quirky take on vamps and vamp slayers. I love Sebastian's character and sometimes I like Max. But the first book definitely sucked me in as did the others. Now I just have to get a hold of all the others in the series lol.

Sarah | 766 comments Glad you like it. The third one is a little weak, but the last two make up for it. It's definitely worth the time. I was happy with the way the series ended.

I agree it took a lot longer to get throught that one

Won't give spoilers, Lauren, but I can tell you Sebastian features prominently in the last book. Just not in a way you might expect.

If you want a POSSIBLE SPOILER*******

I will say that I wonder if he won't be featured in a new book series of his own later.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I think I'm going to have to check out this series. Sounds intriguing!

OMG I can't wait now. ugh he is just up there on my list of hottness

message 15: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Oh wait.. the series is over??? NOOO lol. I just picked up the last two books but I thought it was going to be one of those series that just never ends

I hate finding new series that I love reading, and then finding out it ends. Ugh. lol.

Now I don't want to continue reading and have the series end so soon lol.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments But... but... but, you HAVE to read it! So we can talk about it!

message 17: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments lol I will :)

message 18: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Ahh I finished.. I"m so sad it's over. But I was on her website and she is releasing a set of 3 books that belong to a whole new series. That's kind of exciting. It doesn't say what it's about yet though.

I'm kind of happy about how it ended. But I would have loved if she could have fast forwarded by like 10 years just so we could see how everyone was doing. That would have been nice. To see the new baby Gardella... See how that long promise was going in America. That would have been nice.

I don't want to write anything with spoilers in case anyone reads it lol. I'm happy with what happened though. I could sort of see that, that was the direction the series was heading since the beginning of the books... Yeah.. I'm happy. I just wish I could know for sure that everything turned out okay. Maybe she'll be writing another book or something?? lol. One could hope.

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments See, I was happy with the ending, too. I wondered if the next series would follow a certain character through experiences in America. I think I'd like that series. I admit that I'm a little fuzzy on what the prophecy was supposed to be about.

message 20: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Oh that's interesting! I didn't think about whether it would involve that character. But I think I read it wasn't related. Damn. I'll have to go back to her site and see.

SPOILERSSS

I'm a tad fuzzy too. Something like if he sacrificed himself, he would replace the soul of Max's sister Gulia. He was always worried about the fact that he sent her to hell basically when he killed her. So if he fulfills this long promise (I'm assuming not killing a mortal and drinking their blood) than she would be safe, and he would end up meeting her in the after life.

That's what I understood from it. I could be wrong.
