Rothfussians discussion

Bored at work and thought who should be cast if they ever made a movie for this series? Who would you like to see as Kvothe, Denna, the masters, and so on?

The kid who plays Jeoffery in GoT would be a good Ambrose. He plays a great person you want to throttle when he is on screen.

The first that comes to mind is Eddie Redmayne as Kvothe. I've seen a fan made video on YouTube one with him as Kvothe and I thought that he'd be perfect for the role.

He would be perfect! AND he has a great voice. High five!

I kinda always pictured Kvothe to look like Seth Green

Amusingly I think those two actors have a similar look.

Evanna Lynch as Auri, the way she talks in the HP movies is how I envisioned Auri sounding.

That is who I pictured as well, when reading the KKC. She would make a good Auri.

Elle Fanning would be another good one for Auri.

Maybe Mae Whitman for Devi. Problem is I haven't seen in her in much other than Arrested Development and Parenthood. She looks the part but acting the part is essential.

Maybe Kit Harington (Jon Snow) as Bast.

Denna:
Mia Kunis she has the beauty I always pictured her having.
Hailee Steinfiled (will be in Ender's Game, True Grit)
or
Samantha Barks (Les misrables 2012) she has a beautiful voice and is gorgeous
I feel like any of these could work for Fela too.

Bast: I always pictured Viserys (Harry Lloyd) making a good Bast...he has those huge eyes.

Allen Rickman would be a perfect Master Hemme but it's almost a typecast, I also think Michael Shannon would be great for that role.

I pictured Devi a lot like Emily Vancamp, also – and I'm prepared to be hated – Kristen Stewart always reminds me of Denna. But she's older than the character.

Kvothe = Thomas Brodie-Sangster (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1032473) - Jojen Reed from GoT. He's got the look and the voice and seems to be able to act.
Master Elodin = James McAvoy. anyways.
Denna = Sarah Hyland from Modern Family
Auri = Another vote for Elle Fanning. Perfect fit.

Master Kilvin = Patrick Rothfuss

Emma Stone as Denna. I don't like Denna and I love Emma Stone but she would be great :D

I believe Pat has mentioned that if he could choose anyone he'd choose a younger Natalie Portman for Denna.

But I'm actually kinda with Daniel, I could see Kristen Stewart playing her easy. I don't care for her as an actress really, but she kinda does have the look and the star power.

I don't think I could watch it if Kristen Stewart played Denna! Denna has so much personality and spunk.

Honestly, I pray that KKC isn't made into a film or tv series.

I am 95% sure I wouldn't like it, and as much as that usually amuses me, this series just isn't one I want to feel anything negative about.
Thats not to say it would actually be bad though. It might be enjoyable and make Pat loads of money which would be cool, but knowing myself and being realistic, the moment they cut that one "unimportant" scene, I'll be standing on my couch with a mouth full cuss words.

Charles Dance would make a good Cinder. Not to just keep picking GoT actors.

I appreciate all the choices above I just pictured him with a little more "meat" on his bones.
Maybe the kid from "The Road" (He played Mortensen's son) he is older now and such a good actor.

Besides the "unimportant" scenes to be cut, I hardly believe there would be actors and actresses good enough to play all the important roles.

If someone like HBO or Showtime got it I think it could be done right. Now that GoT has paved the way and shown that you can make a Damn good adaptation of a fantasy series. The hardest part would be creating all the music

Wait... Pat can't be Kilvin... because Kilvin is a black guy.

I picture Cinder looking a lot like Jason Flemyng (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002076/) - he was in The Red Violin and a lot of other stuff. I'd like the kid who played Peeta in the Hunger Games as Kvothe (Josh Hutcherson) just because I can't think of any other young actors that could fit.

I think the hardest one is Denna- she's imperfect (the crooked nose, right?) but dynamic. I think Rothfuss suggested Natalie Portman but I hate that suggestion - a young version of Amanda Peet or Jennifer Garner would be much better for me. Someone thats not classically beautiful but still striking.
