I think we'll be starting today or tomorrow. If you guys want you can establish how much you'll read a day, or you can just go ahead and read at your own pace :P If someone does establish chapters or something, I'll try my best to go along with it!

I read enclave a few months ago and loved it the first and second book!!

Finished! It was a decent read but I thought it ended way to quick and without a climax, c'mon! Not sure yet if I'll read the next book.

Yeah, I agree with Brenda and Amelia, I was underwhelmed. But I know a lot of people have loved it, it wasn't for me. I really didn't like Endurance either, the novella, which helped me make up my mind not to read the sequel. I just found the characters flat and boring and yeah, the story was quite monotonous. I couldn't really picture the world and nothing in the writing inspired me.

I just finished Enclave and I'm not impressed with it. I've heard good things about it so maybe my expectations were too high. I felt like the writing was choppy and undeveloped. I just couldn't pictured the enclaves. I'm guessing they were in the subway system, but I still couldn't picture it. The story felt really repetitive. The only climaxes that occurred was when they were killing the freaks. And what are the freaks? Zombies? I really couldn't tell.

The characters weren't good to me. The only one I really liked was Stalker. There wasn't much character development for me to get to know most of the characters.

Yep agree with everything you all said. I'm taking a beating in my fan group though as everyone seemed to love it there lol!!

I've been picturing subway tunnels too. (view spoiler)[ doesn't it say that the box they sleep in before they get attacked by the Freaks on their way to Nassau used to be used for transportation? (I don't have my book with me to check) And when she described some of the larger areas they came too, with the bathrooms and such, it sounded to me like it could be a subway platform. The area with the Burrowers and all the artifacts baffled me though. (hide spoiler)] But for the most part an old subway system was the picture I got in my head too.

I actually really liked the Enclave. Although, I'm a sucker for anything dystopian! The only thing that annoyed me a little was the bond between Deuce and Stalker, because I saw him as a creep. I'm over that now, as his character has undergone some changes since. (I'm reading Outpost right now - half-way through - and it's pretty good)

I'm finally done Enclave. It definitely got better for me the further on I got, but I was well over half way before I even started liking it. The characters were blah, I actually think I like Tegan the best. Stalker just infuriated me, he was just an arrogant punk who got his kicks out of taking advantage of girls. I really didn't like when they let him come along and so easily forgave his past. But all that said, I am interested to see where this goes, and since most ppl have said that Outpost is better I'll read it next.

This is making me sad- I'm about to start it tonight (yeah I got a bit overloaded with my 5 or so other books :P) and everyone only found it okay :(

It's a fun read, Riya. I think maybe many of us have just read too many similar books, plots, characters, and are just waiting for the next fabulous book and just haven't found it yet? Speaking for myself and my friend here.

I thought it was worth the read, and also finished Outpost. I do plan to read Horde when it comes out too. But yes, I was hoping for an amazing read, and it wasn't that.

I agree Kathy, I think I've just read so many GREAT books lately that I am holding books up to a higher standard now. This book wasn't BAD, just, like you said Kathy, not an amazing read.

Okay, I guess that makes me feel better. I've been reading some pretty epic books right now, so there is a high standard!

I was so disappointed to read that everyone found this book only "meh". I thought it was very thought provoking and watching Deuce grow and learn and experience new things and look at the world differently was a pure joy to me. The fact that Deuce grew up in the most hostile environment imaginable and was taught to have a group mentality and be heartless and tough, but learned from her experiences that she could be a Huntress AND a compassionate person... you get the point...

Please try the second book in the series. I'd be interested to see what you have to say about that one.

It took me a minute to get into the first book, I'll admit. But by the end, I was hooked! I also recommend the second book in the series. I think it's a great series.

I actually like this book. It reminds me of "The Walking Dead" tv series because of the messed up world and struggle to find civilization.

I loved loved loved razorland series, definitely ones of best series ever! i so love Deuce character, and geez, cant wait until oct 29 when the third book will release!!

Okay, I skipped to the bottom because I do not want to take a chance at spoilers, but I started this book a while ago, and I have about 100 pages left, and stopped reading and moved on to other books. It wasn't grabbing my attention, both in the characters and the writing style. But, if someone on here can really convince me that it is worth finishing and that sequel is worth buying, then I will do so. But otherwise, I don't know I want to spend more time on it.

I am a huge advocate of this series. Read it. Just do it. It does get a little melodramatic at times and the story does slow down; which one doesn't. But also appreciate it for what it is, which in my opinion is watching Deuce grow from this sheltered ignorant girl into someone more complete. Someone who can recognize that every sword has two edges. I really enjoyed both books and have preordered the third. Although the second book is, I feel, more about getting to know Deuce and what she now stands for although it is action packed as well. And I just typed all this out on my phone so you know that's commitment ;)

If you do decide to continue with the series (just do it!) I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I will definitely consider it, I just don't know when. Everytime I see "Outpost" on the book shelves I wonder where they could end up in "Enclave." But it hasn't been enough for me to pick it up and finish. But with our high recommendation, I will consider it more. :) Thanks for your reply!

Sorry guys (and I respect your opinion if you like the series!) but I just hate this book. I can't get over the whole Stalker being a love interest thing. And at one point Deuce blamed Tegan for being raped and stuff!??!? Like I just can't get over that.

uh, no. She doesn't fall in love with him. But that's semantics. If you look at that part of the plot, it talks about acknowledging others and our own flaws. Think about it. If you grew up in a racist environment, and you thought that's just how things were everywhere for everyone, you wouldn't question it either. You would happily go along with it became that would be the status quo. Now apply it to Stalker. Same concept. Except he learned from his surroundings and his view was changed. There are so many different real life scenarios I could apply the concept to and isn't that what literature is about? Learning and growing? It's not always packaged in puppy wrapping paper with a pink bow on top. Sometimes it's dirty and unpleasant and, dare I say, controversial. That's what makes it worth while. When you actually have to look deeper to see what's actually there.

I just can't get over it. I understand society and all that, but I think there are limits- and for me, this just passed that limit. I don't know....it's just I wasn't expecting it to be like this AT ALL- and stuff like rape and all that just gets me SO angry, so I couldn't deal with this at all. I mean when it comes to rape stories read quality, like the Kite Runner or something, not this book. I feel that this book should definitely have an age thing on it, because I probably would've picked this up as a middle schooler if I had seen it, and this is definitely not preteen appropriate! I definitely like controversial literature, but for some reason I just can't handle this one- like I think everyone has their limits, and this one was mine.

But for someone who doesn't understand being weak just because you're a female they're valid questions. I think, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you may be judging a dystopian book/ world by the standards of our own society. Yeah, if you asked someone that in this world, you deserve a huge slap in the face, but Deuce doesn't live in our world. And she doesn't know. And what's the best way to find out? To ask.

It wasn't that. I understand society would be different, but at one point Deuce wondered (I think, but it's a bit fuzzy so I might be slightly off) why Tegan hadn't just died, rather than being raped or something like that? And that's what irritated me- the whole idea that Deuce thought Tegan should've died if she really hated rape that much.
