I'm loving the Discworld books, admittedly only three books in but I've heard that the later books are even better than the ones he started off with. They are really quick reads and I found them to be "laugh out loud" funny at times. The worst part was figuring out in which order to read them in, I'm just going chronologically from publication for now but they are separated into different series or topics all within the Discworld universe.
Welcome to the book club Danielle!
I too loved the book thief. I read his other book I am the Messenger and like it as well but it didn't bring out the same feelings as the Book Thief. I do like his writing style though.
Feel free to start a new discussion or any questions of what you're reading, chances are someone has read or is interested in it. We look forward to your input and I hope to see you in next month's read. It seems that 1Q84 isn't too popular although it was at the start of the month. Thanks for joining!

Hi Danielle! Love psychology - what branch of it are you most interested in? I morbid soul that I am, am most interested in the criminal mind and what makes them do the crazy and weird things that they do!
I too used to read 5 to 10 books a week, but since I was in college, that went by the by as textbooks took over my life. UGH!
I love to knit - intricate lace shawls, but know I love to knit little mice and Alan Dart patterns of toys and such!
While I love Murakami, I haven't been able to tackle 1Q84 yet either - the sheer size of it has put me off - because I guess I know that I won't be able to devote the time to it that I really want!

A little about me, I'm a college student in California working on my Psychology degree who, of course, loves books and reading. I used to be a super avid reader when I was a teenager but that has slowed down in the past couple years that I've been in college, unfortunately. I mostly still enjoy YA novels, especially because I can speed through them faster than books geared more towards adults and I love the 'staying up late to finish the book in one day' feeling that I can actually accomplish with them. I've recently started reading the Discworld series (as in just finished the third book the other day), really enjoying it so far but my local library seems to have a pretty meager selection so we'll see how many I can get my hands on.
I'm hoping to be able to jump in on some discussions and group reads in the future (not sure I want to attempt 1Q84 right now, or Lord of the Rings). Other than reading my interests include crocheting, knitting, cooking and wasting time on the internet.
Feel free to add me as a friend, since only two people I actually know use Goodreads and I do enjoy seeing what people are reading and how they rated books :)
