Steph (kitsune_chan) | 157 comments Don't worry, I believe you. I've already read 120 or so. Books are great, aren't they?

Kittiya | 54 comments I believe you as well. I hit a hundred. I would probably have more on my list then I do, but with needing to pack for my move I've been a bit behind my normal pace.

Kristen Harvey I hit 130 last night! :)

Doris (dorisb) | 68 comments I believe you. The only reason I am not that high in my count is I travel by car - a lot - and there is no way I will read and drive.

One of my friends "reads" unabridged books on CD in the car.

Doris (dorisb) | 68 comments I have tried "reading" books on tape (or cd or whatever) but I get annoyed with the people reading them. Sometimes it is a grammatical difference (your point of origin can make a big difference in how you say something) but mostly they just talk too slow.

One exception - the man who read Andrew Greeley's "The Bishop and the Beggar Girl of St-Germaine". He did an awesome job.

John McCain and Mark Salter - Worth the Fighting For: A Memoir - that was okay, and I have to admit I may not have finished it on my own. I "read" it over a two-week period.

Also - Katherine Valentine - The Haunted Rectory - the reader was good although there were points I wanted to shake her - again it was mostly due to grammatical differences.

One person who did/does books on tape that I just can't listen to is Leonard Nimoy. As an actor, he's great, but for the reading out loud I prefer others.

Kate | 354 comments Congrats on reaching 105! and when you see some of the numbers people reach on here, its not that hard to believe :)
There are 52 weeks in a year, if you read two books a week thats 104 books and easily do-able. I started really pushing myself in March when I joined here and have already read 85 books this year, including the small handful I read before March.

In regards to books on tape, some readers are great.
I enjoyed 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' on tape, it was a bit of fun, and I also enjoyed Neil Gaimans reading of his 'The Graveyard Book' I'm not even sure I'd like those two books so much if I'd read them in book form.

I've tried listening to Terry Pratchetts books, but the reader reads way too fast and they're just plain irritating, as is the woman who reads The Devil Wears Prada.
If anybody has itunes, the itunes store has a large range of audio books and a preview button where you can preview the reader which is helpful.
