S. Trust | 53 comments I am an aspiring author who lives in Egypt. If any of you is interested in knowing something from a person who experienced the situation first hand ask ahead. The main point for this thread is to offer authors with material or inspiration for their writings, but other interested people are more then welcome to satisfy their curiosity anyway.

C.E. Martin (cemartin2) | 24 comments Well... Hat s the status of pyramid exploration? I know before the concern was that they could be damaged. I think last year it was reported there was a call to destroy them as thy weren't in line with Muslim beliefs. If that s the case, wouldn't now be the perfect time to break out the high powered drills and shaped charges?

Makes for a good setup for a story... A pyramid is torn open, revealing it wasn't a tomb, it was a huge weight holding something down....

That would indeed make a potentially great story seed, but let us hope that such an unfortunate accident does not happen.

Ken (kanthr) | 165 comments There is a lot of political conflict going on. What sort of outcome do you see happening?

Sophie Lagacé (mechanteanemone) | 26 comments Tarek, I would love to hear more about what is going on, not for writing purposes but because I feel insufficiently informed. It seems there are very important events taking place but I never feel confident that the media coverage presented in the U.S. is sufficient or reliable.

So far all the reformations since 30/6 have been improving the country's political and economical situation. The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) was a disaster that had to be dealt with soon. I know for a fact that Western media does not properly convey the situation so I believe that most of what you hear is wrong or somewhat lacking. Personally, I think this is rather shameful. However, since 2011, the Egyptian media had a horrendous push and gained complete freedom of speech and independence - to an impressive degree which I have only come to realize during the events of 30/6.

Here is something I wrote a few weeks back, I don't mean to promote my blog or anything, but it summarizes most of my thoughts regarding the situation in Egypt and hence I believe it relevant. http://thinkinglazy.wordpress.com/201...
