Wow! Thanks for that link, Kathleen. Although, perhaps my wallet won't thank you, LOL! Has anyone here bought through Better World Books? I'm curious to see how they work.

Thank you, everyone, for your congrats. Although I'm only getting a couple of shifts per week so far, closer to Christmas will be supremely busy. I'm hoping that, once the contract is over (Jan 16th), I'll have a permanent part-time job there. Oriana, the manager, has hinted as much and told me so at my interview. And it's a long story as well. See, I've known Oriana since I was a kid. My mother used to baby-sit for a living, and she baby-sat her son, Keith, for a few years before he started school. Oriana worked at the TD Bank across from my parents shop. She was there when I opened my first bank account. She was my supervisor when I did my co-op there in high school. A few years ago, she got the job as manager of Coles, so she's seen me come in every Friday night. She knows I know my way around, and once Vicki, Kate and Ashleigh heard I'd applied for the seasonal job, all throw their opinions in and knew I'd be perfect for the job. I guess I kinda had it in my pocket, and was hired within the first 5 minutes, LOL! One of the employees, Clayton, got a job closer to home (he lives 45 minutes away from Coles), and Kate's leaving in April to go to school. Oriana made it a point to tell me that during our interview, so I'm quite certain I'll have a permanent part-time job later. While I'm not holding my breath, I am hoping, LOL!

Meanwhile, it seems life threw our family another curve ball. I became an aunt again on Friday afternoon, at 4:04pm when my baby brother (obviously no longer a baby, LOL!) and my sister-in-law brought Ethyn Gregory Laroche into the world. The stubborn little squirt didn't want to come out, LOL! After three days of inducement drugs, he was born. 9 pounds, 20" long. Beautiful little guy, he looks as much like his dad as he does his mom. However, all is not right. Ethyn is having a hard time breathing, and his blood pressure spiked. Tests were done, and on Monday, he was airlifted by air ambulance to Toronto Sick Kids. More tests were performed. He has an artery that is too small. It is causing his heart to enlarge and he can't breathe properly. When he breathes in to cry, he loses his breath. He is currently in ICU, he has IV's in his foot, hand and bellybutton, and a breathing tube was inserted. Jason, Shannon, and her mother, Leslie, left here Monday afternoon and headed south, even before Ethyn was flown. An hour or so outside of Toronto, Shannon called the hospital enquiring on Ethyn and where he was being sent. Turns out he was sent to Toronto, when at first it was supposed to be Hamilton. Sort of glad they hadn't been an hour outside of Hamilton before making the call, or they'd have had to turn around.

The heart surgeon and doctors were putting their heads together today to come up with options and the best course of action. Jay and Shannon will be finding out what those options are tomorrow morning. Ethyn will be in surgery either tomorrow afternoon or Thursday. Well, seeing as it's 5am, I should say either later today or tomorrow. But so far, he's doing okay. So please, may I ask for prayers and best wishes for Ethyn? I know he's a fighter, so he'll be okay, but prayers never hurt.

So, I guess you could say that the bloom of the new job has officially been dulled down. I'll be super excited when Ethyn comes home, and can't wait to give Squirt the biggest of hugs.

Gina,

I am sure that I speak for our group when I say little Ethyn is in our thoughts at this time. Please keep us inform. We wish the best for him and all of you.

4 hours and counting, Ethyn will be in surgery. It is supposed to take anywhere from 5 to 8 hours. The surgeons are optomistic, and Ethyn's been doing okay so far, they're sure he'll pull through okay. My brother, SIL and her parents will be turning their cell phones off while at the hospital tomorrow, so we won't know anything until around dinnertime, which sucks to be me, cause I'll be working my shift at Coles tomorrow night, so I won't know anything until afterwork. I'm on pins and needles as it is, and frustrated that I can't be there. Please keep baby Ethyn in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow, everyone. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Just a quick note:

I fell asleep after I got home tonight. It's been a hell of a day.

Received word just after 4pm that my nephew made it through surgery with flying colors. He's now in recovery and the surgeon and cardiologist are very pleased. Baby Ethyn is going to be okay. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

Maybe they are like actresses who stay the same age for decades :)

If I choose to read it, it will only be for nostalgia. Right now, I have quite a few books in my TBR pile.
