Luckily I found out yesterday that one of the questions is almost identical to one in my last course (lazy teachers, eh?) So I already have the material, means I can work on it over the weekend as I splurt out some NaNoWriMo themed tweets :p

Kartik | 15 comments Hi, Thanks for the invite. Looks like a great group. I am working on a couple of novels. One is Historical Fiction set in Rome (Second Punic War) and the other is Sci Fi set in a future dystopian world. I also review Indie books and am active on twitter (a bit).

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) Hi there!
Thanks for the invite to the group .. this looks like a great place :)
I am Harmony. I published my first book in May this year, and my 2nd book is due to be released on November 15th. I am already working on my 3rd novel, and it looks like I'm a definite multi-genre author, although fantasy and magic do seem to be constants with me ... perhaps my next one might break even this tenuous mould?
As well as writing I am an avid reader, I review, I blog, I edit and proof read - oh, and sometimes I remember that five letter word ... sleep :)
Cheers
Harmony :)

Stephen Hadow (stephen_hadow) | 5 comments Hi Bisky, et al!

I've writen one book so far - Darkling Child - and I'm editing a kids book called 'Teething Troubles' just now. It's a book based upon my daughter losing her first tooth just before Christmas many years ago now, and what happen if the Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas didn't work at the same time (i.e. Christmas Eve). I'm also finishing book 2 of my series, The Realm - the follow up to Darkling Child; False Prophet.

This group looks like fun and I hope to learn lots of writing tips and other fun snippets as I go along!

Good writing y'all - and may the great writer's block Troll never darken your PC ....

David Wilmot (davidmwilmot) | 9 comments Hi Brisky,
I have been following and RT your twitter post as I have enjoyed most of them. Thank you for the invite to the group.
I have two books out on Amazon I am sure anyone interested can find their way. I have been working on the sequel of Duplicity for a couple of months now. Duplicity is a Si-Fi read that is geared to the YA readers.
I came up with the idea for Duplicity on the way to a job sight in Anacorties Washington. I had been racking my brain for weeks for an idea that was fresh that would capture the reader. Not just a rehashed concept of mediocrity. I started the work in Sand Point Alaska on the 29th of December 2012 and published it in August. The writing came easy for most of the work. I sat at my computer and words just poured from me, I was truly amazed.
Thank you again for the invite and I am looking forward to reading and posting to this group!

H.C. Gray (scribberlings) | 53 comments Hi, I've been commenting away on this lovely Group, so I thought time to introduce myself.

I only recently discovered e-books and indie writers, and I have never read so much in my life!

Have just published "Five Very British Horror Stories" and will have another short-story collection published in the next week. Also working on a full-length book (women's contemporary fiction) to be published in 2014.

I'm hoping to get to know you all and your books x

You piqued my curiosity. Now, I have to ask. What makes a British Horror different than let's say American or Canadian? (Your title: Very British)

G.G I think it would involve murderous cups of tea and a show there called Jeremey Kyle. Its a morning programme where you get to witness real life zombies!

Welcome aboard Helen ;]

message 379: by H.C. (new)

H.C. Gray (scribberlings) | 53 comments Thank you for the welcome :)

Well, being new to e-books, before I published I was looking around at other indie horror short-story collections and there was a lot of America stuff from younger people that was a bit slasher style. I wanted to differentiate my writing from that and the obvious thing about mine was that, well, the stories were set in Britain and seemed very British by comparison! Can't say there was anything more to it than that!

I've since been on a bit of a mission to uncover more female horror writers, who again are more about psychological horror and a spooky story than violence and gore. And not just female horror writers, but just more, well more writers and more books! I wish I could spend more time on Goodreads discovering good reads and more time reading, I resent doing anything else at the moment!

I do miss good old' fashioned ghost/haunted house stories. Everything now is so centered on gore and demon possessed muffin-heads ! Glad to hear someone is trying to bring back proper horror.

message 389: by Donelle (new)

Donelle | 11 comments Hi, everyone! Wow, this group is hopping! Thanks for inviting me, Bisky.

I'm an illustrator/writer, currently working on a Victorian YA fantasy series that involves more world-building than I realized when I first started it. I have the first novel finished, and in the process of revising it.

I'm doing a personal sketch challenge this month to help pad my illustration portfolio and land an agent for my art/writing next year. The hunt hasn't been easy, but I'm holding out hope I'll find the perfect fit eventually!

I look forward to catching up on the posts when I get time. So many fantasy writers! This looks like a great group!

Hmm…probably should've started posting here, but better late than never right? So let me formally introduce myself :)

My name is Nicole and I'm currently in the process of finding an agent for my book ReiHana so I can finally accomplish my dream and get the dern thing published. Just finished the sequel to that book and am in the fabulous--but more like dreadful--editing/revising phase, but luckily it's been pretty smooth and soon hopefully I'll have a draft two finished.
