Christina May be it's just me, but I think we should have a "ReRead" Shelf. I am currently re-reading the same book that I have listed as "read," along with the other books I am reading for the first time. This isn't something I do frequently, but this book had so much historical information and I enjoyed it so much, I just had to go back and read it again. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Christina, are you talking about a personal shelf in your profile for rereading? Or here in this group?

You can create a shelf for anything you want in your profile..... I have one for rereading too :)

Kate | 119 comments If you're thinking of the shelves that are the default ones like read to read etc, you can create your own by creating the shelf, going into edit shelves and clicking make exclusive. :)

What are you re-reading Cristina?

I re-read books on a regular basis... I love visiting old friends! When I read a book that I love, and know I want to re-read someday, I put it on the shelf that I created for that purpose. (I have the books listed in order (1, 2, 3...) and when it's time to re-read somehting I take the first from the list. I love that option.)

Thank you Kate!! I didn't know you could do that!! Just what I was looking for!

EDIT: I will make my abandoned books exclusive; I don't like to put them on the "read" list, as I didn't finish them, or the "to read" list as I probably never will get back to them.

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I don't seem to reread because I think I am too anxious about the unread ones and there are too many I haven't read yet that I want to read But I do make two exeptions: all books written by Agatha Christie and Patricia Cornwell> I can reread those every day and the simple joy of going back to one of the many (alreay reread many times) Agatha Christie is so pure and satisfying.

message 7: by Christina (new)

Christina Well, I didn't know I could do that. I'm fairly new -- joined within the last month, so don't have the hang of everything yet, but I'm trying! Thank you for the advice.

I'm re-reading "Piercing the Veil" by Eric Wentz. I'm telling you, this book has so much good "stuff" in it. Alot of historical and geographical information, that I found quite interesting the first time around -- things that are true, even though this is a work of fiction. If nothing else, I wanted to find out more about the historical sites, so if I ever get a chance to travel outside the U.S., I could visit these places. The author makes them sound so interesting. I just had to go back and re-read it!

Looks interesting, even if not my usual genre. Do you know the author, by chance?

I think its a great idea, I have one for my 'to-read' and my 'would like to reads' so that I can keep the 'possibly one days' separate from the books I actually have to read.
Christina, the shelves are great for organising things the way you want them. For ideas of how to use them, browse the profiles and shelves of other people!

Irene Hollimon | 92 comments Everyman is my comfort reading. Whenever my life is in the sh*tter I don't know what's happening, I don't know what I'm doing can't stop worrying about it etc. I pull it out, get a mug of sugared up warm milk and read it.

I don't call them abandoned but, I have an exclusive shelf called "books I didn't finish"

I actually call mine LITS and TBRITL (Life Is Too Short and TBR Is Too Long!)

Stef (buch_ratte) | 650 comments I wish I had time to reread books. there are too many good books out there as that I would have time to reread books. Maybe when I am old and grey and have no more money for new ones.

message 16: by Christi (new)

Christi | 35 comments I reread fairly often off my favorites shelf in RL. But I must admit that since I have joined GoodReads and Paperbackswap.com I haven't reread anything.

Everyman Christina wrote: "May be it's just me, but I think we should have a "ReRead" Shelf....

Just a newbie here, but I definitely admit to re-reading. Frequently.

Right now, for example, I'm re-reading the Odyssey (for perhaps the fifth time in as many decades) and Trollope's Vicar of Bullingham. I hope to join the Woman in White discussion, which will also be a re-read.

any book worth reading is worth re-reading

I sometimes like to reread one that I love if I'm reaidng a tough book. Also, I'm an English major, so I have to for school. Besides, i find that one nearly always gets more out of a book than the first time around.

message 19: by GracieKat (new)

GracieKat | 864 comments I reread a lot. Which is probably the reason for so many books in my 'books I have but haven't read yet' shelf. :)

Thanks for the tip on making a shelf like that an exclusive one. I'm trying to sort out between my read books that I got rid of and the books I would like to get and read from my books that I own but haven't read yet.

message 20: by Lynai (new)

Lynai I re-read too! I might as well create a re-read shelf. :)

message 21: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) I´m ALWAYS re-reading! I think I should do a re-reading shelf too lol
That is a problem cause the TBR pile is so huge.. but I´m always re-reading.. I´m planning a 2 months Twilight marathon, I´ll be reading all 4 book in portuguese and then all 4 books in English xD

message 22: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) I've been trying to re-read a bunch of my books (which I used to do when I was in high schools; nowadays I only re-read select books (i.e. all of Jane Austen's books, LOTR, etc.)) and have been debating whether to make a re-read shelf or something xD

message 23: by Kristin (new)

Kristin | 53 comments Hi! I'm a Newbie too but have become quickly addicted to GR. I very rarely re-read, because I agree that there is so much out there left unread as of yet.

But I used to when I was younger - my favorite re-read from my teenage years is S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders and I have been wanting to re-read it AGAIN for the last year or so. However, when I take my list to the library I always forget about it - because it's listed as READ and not on the To Read list!! I'm so happy to know that I can make a new shelf. Thanks for the tips!

(Jeane, I'm going to re-read some Agatha Christie this summer too! Another author who I read over and over again as a teen and haven't picked up in about 20 years. And then there will be a definite Twilight series re-read too... Geez, books are awesome.) :-)

message 24: by Della (new)

Della I agree! (Newbie as well)
I reread books all the time--there's always something new for me to learn that I missed before!
I recently re-read 'The God of Animals' by Aryn Kyle. AMAZING BOOK! I could read it over and over again and still fall in love with the character in a new way. There are always some books that you can't reread--suspensful books loose their charm, and so do action books because you know what's going to happen.

Kristin | 53 comments Added my To Re-Read shelf and was surprised by how many books I added to it as possible re-reads. And then immediately picked up an Agatha Christie that I first read in junior high school. Inspired by our discussion!
