Looking at the hand he held out. Putting her smaller hand in his. It felt new to her to have another hand is hers,but it made her happy. "Yes we shall." Smiling softly.

He heard and smiled to himself as he walked back to his house.

((Should we have her aunt and uncle get a little suspicious? yet))

He squeezed her hand and helped her to her feet. "Well you've already seen the basement here. Aka my room." He chuckled.

((Yeah a little bit))

Alice sighed deeply as she entered her home, closing the door softly behind her.

Smiling at him some. "Yeah I saw it's better than mine though."

Alice was really nice to him. Maybe things would work out for them despite this being a really bad idea.

He nodded and led her up the stairs. "This place is pretty simple. The first floor is just classrooms and offices," he showed her his classroom. "This is the room I teach in."



Alice sighed softly and bit her lip to hide her smile. Her smile was completely wiped from her face as she heard her aunt and uncle come down the stairs.

"Do you guys get too many kids?" Asking softly in quiet voice. Looking up at him then quickly looked down like she did so many times before.


"You are home early from school again." Todd wanted his niece to have the best education possible.

He smiled and shrugged. "We get a good amount. Lately we've had a lot, but a good twenty students graduate from here in the spring." He said.

She bit her lip, carefully taking off her coat. "I know. I'm feeling ill again today...so my teacher told me I could come home." She explained

Nodding slowly. "So um how did you find this place?" Asking cautiously not sure if that was something he would tell her or would he end up yelling at her. Was it okay for her to look up?

"Listen I know you feel ill and everything, but you need to get your education." Looking at her. "Your parents would want that."

He pressed his hands into his pockets. "Well, after my house burnt down, I needed somewhere to go. This place just opened up and although I'm not blind, they let me stay here if only I started working, which I did." He said.


She nodded, hanging her head. "Yes sir, I know. I'm sorry.....it won't happen again I promise."

Lily thought about pressing on for more information, but just let it off at that. Knowing she would have to start to work soon if she decided to stay there. "So what time is super? I ah promised Caroline I would meet up with her."

"Good, now your aunt and I decided that we will be having a party to celebrate your return to school. Hopefully you might find a suitor. You can pick any theme. Your aunt has the guess list ready feel free to invite anyone." Pausing some. "You can invite the tutor of yours too. He might want to spread his name."

He glanced over at the clock in the classroom. "In about two hours. Did you want me to take you to her room?" He asked.

He looked up, suddenly intrigued. "A party?" A suitor? she blinked and her heart fluttered. She felt excited to be able to invite her tutor, who would secretly be her suitor. "Oh that sounds lovely! But I don't think I'll have a suitor.."

"When the time comes I think I will be able to manage." Whispering softly. "Is it okay for me to lift my head up?"


"Yes a party." Saying it surprised. He didn't think she would be excited for a party. "Don't worry your aunt invited the most eligible bachelors." Informing her as he reached in his pocket to hand to her. "This is the money to buy dress"

He furrowed his brows. "Of course it is. It'd be rude if you didn't look at me while I talked to you." He said.

He smiled slightly and stared down at the money. She hen grinned and ran into her uncles arms. "Oh thank you!"

Playing with her fingers"Okay, I should go back to the basement and wait for super." There was times where if she didn't look she got punished, but most of the time when she looked she got punished. There was no way to tell whether it was safe. "I do apologizes if you find me rude."

Why was she so happy? Maybe this was good thing to get her mind of things. "You're welcome." Raising a brow. "Its time for you to be happy." He whispered.

"No no, don't worry about it. I understand, Lily. I do. Is about I show you around some more? The backyard is really nice." He said.


Happy? She wondered if that's what she was really feeling now that her and Mr. Mitchel's feelings were out in the open. He couldn't wait to tell I'm the news. "That's what I really want." She whispered, stepping back.

"I uh don't really think I should go back to the basement and wait for super." Walking to the door of the classroom. She was punishing herself for not knowing better. If no one else was going to punish her shouldn't she do it for herself?

"I'm glad your happy." Smiling softly. "Now if you feel any better you can go find yourself a dress." Pausing. "By the time you come dinner will be ready."

Michael sighed. "Lily, you don't have to wait down there. Let me show you the garden. There's a swing." He said, hoping to intrigue her. "And a duck pond."

She felt her forehead and fanned herself. "Well, I think I'm well enough. I think I might just go change into a lighter dress then head out to the market."

"Yes I do have to go down there. I messed and deserved to be punish for doing so." She said sightly glancing up and seeing him in the reflection of the glass that was in the door. "When people do wrong they get punish and I did wrong."

"Okay you do that." He said smilingly happily. This year has been really rough for everyone and even more on his niece. He was really glad that things were looking up.

Michael leaned against his desk and ran his hand down his face. Was this girl for real? "Lily, you dont need to be punished. I'm not going to punish you.." He stood up straight. "How old are you?"


With that, Alice skipped upstairs and sat her school books on her small desk and changed into a lifter dress that was a soft blue colour.

She wondered what he thought of her? Maybe she was just a pathetic girl to him. "I'm 17" Looking down some wondering what was going to happen next. "I was taught that if I do something wrong I deserved to punish for it."


Moving to his sitting room to smoke a cigar.


Jay stopped at the market to grab a few things.

He nodded. "Well you're a young women. You're no longer a child. You should see how foolish that sounds coming from a grown women like yourself." He said


Alice grabbed her coin purse and left her bedroom, skipping down the stairs. "Uncle? May I have a few invites in case I run into anyone at the market?"

Taking a deep breath and opening the door now answering him. "You say you understand, but obviously you don't." The best thing to do now was go. Heading to the front doors to leave. She thought he understood that she didn't know to live her life and be proper or a young woman. She spent 10 years in that place and never grown up like she was supposed to.


Nodding his head slowly."Yes Alice, they are on my desk. You can hand them out to anyone you may want" Alice seemed so happy. He didn't remember when she was this happy.

Michael didn't know what to do. He didn't mean to he harsh with her but he had a right to. She was acting so childish. "I guess I can't make you stay....but don't pretend like I didn't try with you." He sighed.



She nodded and grabbed the handful of invitations and fled her house with a wide smile.

Tears came down her eyes quickly. If she walked out would things go right for her? "You don't understand any of this I was there for 10 years. I don't know how to act like the way I'm suppose to. I thought you undstood that" Whispering softly not wanting to leave. She wanted stuff to work out here.


Browsing through the fruit that he needed. Taking his good time. Jay didn't have anything waiting for him at home.

"Of course I understand." He walked up to her and spoke in a soft voice. "But I feel like you're not even listening to when I tell you you're safe here."


She made her way into town, first going into the market to get herself from fresh fruit to snack on.

"I know you say I'm safe and I believe you. Its just i don't know what's common or not. I just know what everything was like" Looking up at him. "I want everything to work out."


Finding some ripe bananas and picking some apples. Putting them in his hands since he didn't bring his basket.

"Everything will work out. You need to forget about that place, okay?" He touched her arm.


At first she didn't notice him. But when she did, she grinned and snuck up behind him, poking his spine with her finger.

Smiling some. "I'm sorry I'm not the best person to be around with, but I hope everything works out."

Turning around. "Hello stranger" Smiling. "What are you doing out here sick?" Winking.

He nodded. "I hope so to. But the only way it will is if you listen to me while I also listen to you."


She giggled and held out the invitation. "Because of this."

"Micheal, how do I forget about that place?" Asking softly not sure on how to do that. "Micheal do you really see me as a childish?"

"A present from a sick girl?" His eyes widens with a smile. "I always though sick people gave away their sickness." Joking looking at the fancy invitation. "Your having a party and what is the theme of this party?"

"I know that's not something you can easily forget about, but you can try to remember better things so it won't seem so bad anymore. And no...not particularly." He shrugged.


"Oh!" She totally forgot about the theme. "Well, I've always wanted to have a masquerade party. So many sneaking around with you would be easier since you'll be wearing a mask." She smiled

Nodding her slowly. "Then why did you say what you said? Did I push you too far? I didn't mean to. I don't want to upset anyone." Looking up at him for the first time she notice his features. He was quite cute, but Micheal would never want a girl like her.

"A masquerade party. I can be your Prince Charming and you shall be my Cinderella." Smiling. "Let me guess looking for a dress?"

"I just...I mean you clearly don't look like a child." He said quickly, nodding his head toward her body. He looked away and cleared his throat. "It just seemed like your mental compacity was like a child's since it seemed it didn't listen or remember what I've been telling you all this time."

She blushed and nodded. "Yes. I came here to grab a quick snack. And maybe I'll be more of a Sleeping Beauty type." She giggled.

"So what if my mental compacity is like a child's?" Quickly pushing the thoughts of him being cute away. "It doesn't matter. I'm not going to amount to anything. I remember what you say, but do I trust what you said? No because where I come from trusting someone gets you no where, but hurt. You keep saying you understand? If you understand so much you would realize that I can't trust you automatically. That's going to take time." Snapping a little. Instantly feeling guilty about it. "I'm sorry about that. This whole situation is different for me"

"I came here to grab some things for my house." Informing her. "Well I will let my Aurora find her perfect dress and surprise me with it."

He nodded. "Yes, I know. And I'm sorry I just....I want you to be okay." He touched her shoulder assuringly. "I want to help you be okay again."



She smiled, folding her hands in front of her lap. "What's your favourite colour?" She asked.

"You want to help me?" Her head tilted to the side some. Smiled formed on her face. "I want you to help me."


"Hmmm I don't know never really thought about colors before." Pausing some. "It doesn't matter because you would look good in anything."

He nodded, cupping her cheek in his hand. "Id love to tell you. That's what I've been saying this whole time."



She smiled and nodded, sighing softly with content. "Okay. Well you'll know it's me." She smiledz

She wasn't use to people touching her like this. Lily smiled some. Trying to push away the thought of them being more then friends. Is this what a crush feels like "Thank you"

"All i will do is look for the most beautiful for girl there" He smiled.

He smiled and rubbed his thumb along her cheek. "No need to thank me. It's my pleasure".


She giggled and picked up a peach, examining it. "Well I better pay for his and be on my way.."

"Well thanking you is the right thing to do." Smiling some. "You said theres a duck pond? Maybe we could look at it?"

Jay smiled. "Yes i will see you tomorrow" Bouncing his head to say goodbye.

He nodded. "Yes of course." He held out his arm. "Shall we?"


She nodded. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Taking his arm. "Yes we shall" She was happy right now.


((Perhaps we should skip with Micheal and Lily? Unless if you have an idea for them?))


Jay walked back to his house and put away his fruit, but kept an apple in his hand.

((Maybe later down the line all the characters cross paths?))

Alice made her way to be dress shop on the other side of town where she spend almost an hour picking out the perfect dress.

((Okay, I'm going skip about a month. Yeah i thought it would be cool as well it would things intresting.))

Lily smiled to herself. This past month had be hard for, but things were getting better for her. Turing to Michael, "The cat was eating a mouse. The mouse came from the house. It likes to eat cheese out of the re-re...." Michael was helping her practice reading, but she got stuck on the word. This happened often and it made her frustrated. "Michael I can't get figure it out."


Jay smiled softly as he walked into his office with his apple. Starting to go over his papers. Alice was almost done with her schooling. He would be out of a job.

Michael was sitting beside her with a pencil in his hand. He nodded encouragingly to her. "Yes you can. Sound it out. Take your time. I know you can do this." He said, pointing his pencil at the word.


Alice made her way home with her dress wrapped up in a big white box.

"Re-fr-ig-it-ator" Sounding it out like he told her. "Refrigerator?" Looking at him for approval. "The cat was in charge of killing the mice" Going on the with the rest of the paragraph. Reading made her feel sad because she couldn't read at the right level.

Jay was dressed in a white suit with a black mask. He walked to the party handing his invitation at the door. There was people all over the place. Thoughting it would be easier to find her.

"Good!" He cheered, smiling widely. "See? I knew you could do it." He squeezed her shoulder then pulled out a notebook as he finished off the paragraph. "Now it's time for some writing." He flipped open to the page they last left off on. "First print your full name, then the date."


Alice was still in her bedroom, sitting in front of her vanity as she finished with her mask, tying the gold Venetian styled mask over her eyes. Once it was in place, she grabbed her white gloves and also slipped them on.

Lily bit her lip some and nodded. Aliah Marie Scot October 28 1829 Writing the name in print. Sighing realize she spelt her name wrong again. "Micheal I spelt my name wrong again." Looking down. "Why can't i get it right. I sound it out like you tell me to do."


Moving around the crowd for Alice. Wondering if she was even here. There was so manu people he never saw before. Her aunt and uncle must be really rich to throw a party this big an extravagant.

"It's alright Lily. You know the letters which is good, you just have to remember the order. Why don't you stick with lily? It's short and sweet." He smiled.


Wearing a elegant gold ball gown with a low cut top that showed off her slight cleavage, Alice left her bedroom and stood at the top of the stairs, gazing down at the crowd below. She suddenly felt nervousz

Smiling some. "Okay, Lily it is" That was easier to remember. "Michael now what?" Looking up at him then down to the piece of paper that she wrote on.


Slightly glancing up to see the most beautiful girl at the top of the stiars. The gold dress made her look gorgeous. Turing around to make his to the stiars. Smiling to himself he knew it would be easy.
