I've never seen a psychology/ self-help book in graphic design or cartoon. It's user friendly. It takes about 5-20 minutes to read- depending on how much time you mull over the concepts. It's a quick read. I don't know of other self-help books that read that quickly.
It's also a self help book that introduces deep, painful, and somewhat intense concepts in an approachable and fun way. Thus, you don't really have to mull over it. You can discuss it, react to the funny things, and walk away from it. You can bring it to your friends and family and invite discussions. It's different from giving someone a book about, say, their diagnosis or their problems. Anyone can relate to this book.
There's a lot of self-help books out there are really good, and self-help books are much better now than they were 20 years ago. You will find that the concepts are not new- but rather the elephants bring something different and refreshing. Funny and true at the same time.
And- I just have to say that from the perspective of a psychologist- sometimes people have to hear, see, or find things multiple times before it "sinks in." New perspectives, a slightly different way of seeing or looking at something, or a different way of explaining it can go a long, long way.
This book is a classic because you can read it at different times in your life and get different things out of it each time. And if you want something on your coffee table to start some discussions, this is a good bet.
