Chris  Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I can't help myself. I like the gangs of thugs. Shikaree in particular is mysterious and interesting, but I like the others too.

I also like Toren and Nalu so far.

I don't dislike Ratel and Calton. They seem ok. I'm just liking the secondary characters more....

Libby | 242 comments Yeah, he was not my favorite; however, due to the horrible things that happened to him I can't help but have sympathy. By the way, well done with the description of his father and the scene w/ the disfiguring fire etc. (don’t want to create too much of a spoiler here) – it gave me chills, very disturbing. Felt like I was there watching.

Tracy Dobbs | 121 comments I really liked Toren. I liked his "detective"(Columbo maybe? One of the TV guys, anyway) vibe.

I also like Keras...and I'm a bit intrigued about his lack of memory of his past.(and a bit suspicious about his "lost" arm)

I liked Ratel better than Calton. Calton's impulsiveness, especially leaving the library with Keras, just really ticked me off.(It's in character, mind you, just annoying).

He's the most real to me because of his journal entries. I also am eager to learn why he has this mysterious hole in his memory. I suspect it will somehow get linked to Loradda Stone.

Toren and Faren are next. I really want more details about both these men,especially Faren. He's an effective commander, despite his gruffness. I trust him. Toren is likeable because of his corny first name, his cleverness and his obvious love for Darcies.

The journal entries were an unexpected and fun narration tool - nice look at Keras' perspective

John Beachem | 373 comments Most people have told me they like Toren the best, so it's kind of nice to see some love for poor Keras on here :-). The journal entry chapter is kind of funny, because that's the one I really had to fight my publisher over. They didn't like it at all and thought people wouldn't want to read a long series of journal entries.


Libby | 242 comments It made me think of the correspondence you see in Frankenstein. Not a technique you see used much anymore but I thought it worked well.
