Edward L. (edwardlcote) | 3 comments I'm publishing my first book soon, "Violet Skies", the first book in a series of the same name. The books are YA fantasy novellas. I have a lot more info on my blog.

In the meantime if you want to see some of my work I have a short story in the Twelve Worlds anthology called "Iron in Shadow". It's my own spin on an old school fantasy story. It is in some ways a basic fetch quest, but with twists and complications and moral dilemmas. I didn't do it in quite the way writers like Howard or Moorcock would have, but it is still my little tribute to them and those eras of pulp and serials.

(The title "Iron in Shadow" is meant to sound like one of Howard's titles as well as being a play on words between the Iron Knights and the shadows in which Kasper lives.)

What I do have in common with those writers is that it's really all about the characters. Iron in Shadow will introduce you to two. Dibian, the main villain of the series, features prominently. You'll see his wits, charm, and power. Kasper (who goes by multiple names) is a complex anti-hero, a thief with some remnant of a conscience and the protagonist of the story. He returns in the middle of the series and has an important role to play then.

Twelve Worlds is on Amazon and Smashwords. It's only $3 and all the royalties go to Reading is Fundamental, a trusted charity that supplies underprivileged children with books. http://www.rif.org It's well worth it for 14 short stories in various speculative fiction genres. You're bound to find at least a couple stories and new authors that you like.

Thanks much and enjoy.
