Pride and Prejudice
question
Who is your favourite character, and why?

My favourite character, apart from the obvious Mr Darcy, has to be Mr Collins. He is so entertaining and hilarious. Everything he does and says is just funny!

I do like Charlotte, I understand why she did what she did even though Lizzie, had a hard time doing so. She was a single woman, she was reaching spinsterhood and this was her last chance at her own life, to be the mistress of her own home and have children instead of being a burden on her brothers for the rest of her life. She was also very smart about how she approached married life. She was a practical and smart character rather than romantic like Lizzie. Lizzie had very grand notions of never marrying without love and would just be the spinster aunt and while I think that she's right, one shouldn't marry without love, I doubt she would be as casual about it at Charlotte's age as at 20.
Argh! Can we have secondary favorites? Of course I love Lizzy, just for reasons stated above and more. But I also love Mrs. Bennett because she is so real, so of her time but also reminding me of a number of modern day persons I have encountered. She just absolutely nails the essence of her characters, which transcend time and space to become people we easily recognize in our modern lives. We laugh at Mr. Collins because we all KNOW a Mr. Collins, don't you think? Cheers!
Mary Bennett is my favorite, and the only one I could really relate to. She wants to be wise, and strives to learn unrewarded.
I hate to be cliche but Elizabeth is great.. elegant and beautiful but not incredibly reserved. And a good sense of humor, and wit.
Mr Collins; I can't imagine the story without him! He might be as Ms. Sheiner said a bit over the top, too much that odd strange man with the short legs and the belly, but I do think he keeps things humorous and he changes the story. If he wouldn't be that much "over the top" it probably wouldn't have the same effect. That 'oh, mister Collins!' feeling when you read about what he says or does.
Oddly enough, not a single character in P&P grabs me. I dislike Mr. Collins; he's too over the top. But I don't have very strong feelings for anyone else, which as I am thinking about it is rather strange, because I certainly do like the book. It's not my favorite Austen book--Emma is--but I like it well enough. Still, no characters have endeared themselves to me.
Lizzy, Mr. Bingley, Mr. Darcy or Mr. Bennett. I can't choose between all of the amazing people in this book.
Of course my first choice is Mr. Darcy. He's just such a pompous brute at times that I can't help but love him. He creates his own misery and I've done that in too many of my own relationships not to relate.
When it comes to humor, I'm in the Mr. Collins boat. He steals every scene and keeps me giggling throughout.

I am also shocked to see, no one mentioned Jane. She is such a good natured girl I have ever seen
I like Charlotte, because her character kept surprising me. She was a close friend of Elizabeth but did not get carried away by romanticism. She did not take everyone's criticism to heart and was stubborn on her standing. She even after her marriage was so warm and caring of Elizabeth and always wished her well. Such a friend is so hard to get.
I love everyone in this book! Mr. Darcy's mysteriousness, Mrs. Bennet's humorous desperation to marry her daughters off, Mr. Bennet's quiet mockery, and who can forget Lizzie? Should I really be that predictable to say I liked her the best? Hmmm, I'll say Lizzie, but Mr. Bennet's a close tie. He reminds me so much of my own dad :)
No doubt Lizzy, I resemble most in her assertive character. She is stubborn and she thinks she is always right, which is what I do most of the time. She stands for her sisters' welfare and tries to make herself clear. She is powerful, attractive, energetic and has a witty attitude when her advice is requested. I admire everything about her.
definitely Lizzy. She's witty, intelligent, beautiful and strong independent woman. She's a character that I can really relate to! When Darcy treats her poorly, she opens her mouth and says something. She sticks up for herself and doesn't let a man treat her poorly. So I'd say she's pretty bad ass woman. Don't get me wrong I really like Darcy too. Their romance was just really deep and sweet.
I like Lizzy and Mr Darcy, of course, but it's a bit cliche to say them. Other than those two, I love Mr Bingley because he's sweet, friendly and a bit awkward. I also love Mrs Bennet, and I can relate to how extra she is! And (maybe a weird choice?) Caroline Bingley. I think her interactions with all the characters are hilarious!
I'm not going to be original, but, I might say Mr.Darcy. He is just so... I don't know, we slowly fall in love with him, without even noticing. ( but, apart from him, I'm gonna say Lizzy, because she is awesome, that's it ! )
I love them all but I think I relate to Mr. Bennet (on a spiritual level) above all. I know he has his faults and could have been a better father and husband. But the poor man is surrounded by ridiculously absurd family members including his own wife (which I still wonder how he even ended up marrying her in the first place). Can you really blame him for trying to live in his library 24/7? I don’t. In fact as a bookworm, I envy him.
I admire all the characters highly. Mr.Collins, perhaps, is my favorite, but I think I like Mr.Darcy and Lizzie quite as well.
My favorite is definitely Mr. Bingley! No matter what, he is always kind and non judgy and I know the book is called pride and prejudice, but I can't stand it when people are super judgy lol
Even though she didn't appear that much, I found Ms. Bingley's antics at Netherfield to be ridiculously entertaining. I don't know if she's my favorite character, but she's definitely the funniest :D.
Honestly, I love Mr Darcy because he is just a shy introvert like I am. I also love Mr Collins because he is just hilarious honestly, and he shares the same love for excellent boiled potatoes as I do. Lastly, I would have to say Mary because I admire how she strives to learn and succeed in life and isn't occupied by the thought of marriage.
I love Mr. Bennet and Elizabeth. They are the best father-daughter duo. Can't forget Mr.Darcy tho <3
Mr Darcy is the one I can relate to, and therefore my favourite.
I think Mr Darcy is my favorite cause he is a very stone cold person but he's not afraid of his feelings.
Mary Bennet. There’s just so much shade thrown at her, and yet I relate to her so much. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are super funny though. Elizabeth frankly I find snobbish—she seems to hold herself in very high regard.

Lizzie, and Charlotte. Mr. Bennett is hilarious. And I rather like Colonel Fitzwilliam, even if he is only really there to move the plot along.
My favorite character is certainly Elizabeth, the way she thinks and express her idea has made of her a strong person who's ready to fight for her beliefs, and what makes her more interesting is that she gives priority to her family.
Definitely Lizzie. I've always related to her in some ways. No matter how many times I read the book, she's always entertaining and I love seeing her fall in love with Mr. Darcy every time.
Anne is definitely my favourite. I love her deep, sensitive, constant inner beauty. She never loses faith in Wentworth 's goodness rather questions whether he could still have feelings for her. That shy reserve is so much more real than some of the more bold characters Austen has written about. I relate to her as a more mature heroine who at first doesn't seem that captivating but as the novel progresses becomes more so . In fact we are like Wentworth spending the entire book to come to the conclusion that she is still the beautiful, worthy person that she had been to him at eighteen.
Lizzie, for sure. She is intelligent, beautiful, assertive, she stands for what she believes. And she is a bookworm, just like me.:)
Mr. Darcy!!! I think his character is very complex, he can be mean, serious, and lovely at the same time :)
Lizzie or Bingley. She's a great strong character. I like Bingley cause he's so sweet.
As a person Elizabeth is my favourite, but as a character Lady Catherine De Bourgh has to be the most detestable yet personality filled character in that book, which in a strange way, makes her my favourite. I love it when there are characters that make you react to everything they do or say, because it gives you a deeper interactive connection to the book. So what if I hate her as a person?; I could not have had more fun coming up with new things to yell at my paperback at her expense. "HOW ARE YOU EVEN RELATED TO THAT SEXY BROODING FIGMENT OF LITERARY CREATION, YOU OLD HOIGHTY TOIGHTY MONSTER?!" "Do us all a favour and SHUT THAT UNGODLY HOLE IN YOUR FACE.... Thank you."
Lol, I see another Kirk on this list. I love Lizzy(of course) and Jane!
Mr. Bingley for sure. He is all caring and sweet. What else does a girl want.
Darcy is presented as cold and shrewd man, just that he liked me. His manners explanation is provided of its status in the society. He's smart and not devoid of feelings. Interesting character.
My favourite character very hard to decide Mr Collins for his OTT mannerisims & being a puppy devoted to Lady Catherine! Elizabeth for her demeanour,Mr Darcey for his shirt! his aloofness,Mr Bingley for being so cheerful or Jayne for her calm beauty? No I chose Mrs Bennett for all her hysterics and ailments. Her wish for the best suitors for her Girls. Her determination to be noticed at social dances & when Lydia elopes her wish for a marriage no matter what cost is realised! Ican imagine the younger Mrs Bennett constantly whittering on re the house, the need for a son each time a daughter appeared. Indeed it makes me wonder if the younger Mrs Bennett would have been a more normal, happier individual? Which daughter's personality was she like?
So Mrs Bennett has my vote

my favorite is Mr. Darcy he is the cause and effect of this book, without his pride, shyness and love there wouldn't be a wonderful story with a fairytale ending.
My fav characteer is mr Darcy, definitely. Not because he's handsome or rich. He knows what suffering means, real suffering: he could stand and watch his father give importance (not to mention money) to a little rat like Wickham, and also watch him steal her sister's heart, just to abandon her lately. He could go and say "I love you" to a girl of humble origin, despite all the difficulties that could (and will) be. He is strict, in a certain way, I know, but I think the real Darcy is who we see when he's at home, at Pemberley, with his sister. Somehow, he needs to feel assured with what (and who) he knows best.
I was not surprised about his first confession to Lizzy. Come on, it was 1800, for god's sake, it was normal thinkin about money first, and the fact he didn't do that, I think it's the measure of his deep love to Elizabeth....who, on the contrary, starts to fall in love with Darcy, only when she sees his beautiful manor...well, now, who's the worse??? I'm kidding (half and half), I love this couple, but I think he is much more romantic than her. She is the man of the couple XD

The novel per se makes one too spoilt for choices..can't pick one :)
Lizzie, of course, with Mr Collins and Lady Catherine among the secondary characters. Mr Darcy, for tolerating without complaint the Bingley sisters and Mr Hurst, I place a very distant second to Lizzie.
I actually have two fav characters... one has to be lizzy.. girl with mind and power.. absolutely stunnuing. the second fav is Mr. Bennet..his character ozzles with sarcasm.. and way he commun icates with his wife is amazing.
Obviously, I like Darcy and Elizabeth. I also like Charlotte because I see some of myself in her character. However, I must say that Mr. Bennett is one of my favorites. I love his wit and sarcasm.
Mr Bennett and Mrs Bennett’s nerves. One would not be as brilliant without the other
