I've joined the group a few days ago, and already posted some comments, but only now I'm introducing myself properly (sorry!).
I'm from Uruguay but I live in the US. I'm a mom of 7, so I have little free time, but when I'm free I like to read, discuss books, knit, drink some coffee (generally all at the same time).
I read many genres but probably historical fiction is my favorite, followed by classics.
I'm enjoying YLTO! Looking forward to sharing readings and discussions with you!

Besides reading, I'm into yoga and meditation, quilting and genealogy. Due to not being able to tolerate gluten, dairy or corn, I spend lots of time in the kitchen, and audiobooks are wonderful company. I live in Maryland, which is eastern US.
I enjoy historical fiction, mysteries, the classics and also biographies and a little history now and then. I got burned out a couple of years ago from trying to do too many challenges, and was bummed to discover this group too late to start your Alphabet challenge....so I'm staying tuned to see what Janice pulls out of her hat next. :)
Welcome also to Sandra!

Hi Laura,
Glad to see you emerging from lurk-dom ;)
There are a lot of audiobook lovers here too - multitasking is never a bad thing!
I think we are all stalking the 2014 challenge thread. Patiently of course!

We survived Thanksgiving break, so I'm confident we'll survive Christmas too. :)
Have you got children?

God bless you is all I say. :) My parents only had 5 at a time, max. There was quite a gap between the oldest three and the rest.
ETA: You must have lots of patience! Something I sadly lack lol.

Hope we can share some readings and discussions in the future!

My siblings would say I am the spoiled one, but I like survivor much better.

It's nice to have another quilter in the group. :)
I hope to post the 2014 challenge tonight. It's storming here with blizzard conditions, so it will be a perfect night to stay warm and cozy. Speaking of cozy... check out our December challenge.

Stay safe in that blizzard, and I can't wait to see what the 2014 Challenge brings. :D

Found the group through Thing Two, after getting curious seeing the alphabet lists and challenges. I love challenges. I frequently fail to achieve them due to unforeseen outside challenges! However, I have learned to just shake it off.
My name is Will, I just turned 37, I live just outside Chicago in sleepy Winfield, IL., where I have a studio in my home in which I am a composer of classical music, and I'm a retired professional Fencer and Fencing Coach, and most recently have been appointed/elected to my Public Library's Board of Trustees. I read a great deal, and buy hundreds upon hundreds of books a year thanks to my many friends in the literary, publishing, reviewing, and used book dealer worlds. I have seemingly innumerable hobbies, which is probably why my chosen vocation is "Gentleman Adventurer."
I tend to read challenging fiction, classics, ancient works, a great deal of history, with a special focus on two parallel tracks, one a chronological study of U.S. Presidents, wherein I read the 1 to 6 most highly thought of books on each one, the other the same but of U.S. conflicts. Currently I'm working on Ralph Ketcham's massive missive on James Madison (a dry book, but a far more interesting president than I expected) and I'm in-between books on the War of 1812, which is amazing reading.
I've lead several book clubs online and off, and have lead a seeming zillion book club discussions, done a little reviewing, and am not looking to do either at this point, as I'd like to focus on starting a good book club in my town (which I moved to about 20 months ago) and an public education project on top of all of that. Also, Thing Two and I have an increasingly famous fight/discussion/reference to The Adventures of Captain Underpants that I'm sure will come up often.

I work as a healthcare professional/manager, and like to read (of course) as well as sew. I also love technology and reading and learning about the latest new devices. So as you might guess I love my Kindle!
I enjoy reading a variety of things from Nora Roberts to classics to fantasy. And non-fiction, too!
Nice to meet you!

I'm a mom to 2 amazing kids (7.5 yo and soon to be 12 yo) who are unschooled, a fancy way of saying homeschooled without a daily curriculum. My kids just immerse themselves in their own interests and learn so much in their own ways. I'm married to a wonderful man who fortunately has the same ideas (mostly) as I do.
I love to read, meditate, eat healthy and try my best to workout. Dogs are my passion and we have 2, both rescues.
I'm really looking forward to using this group to help me work through my tbr. I love the idea of monthly challenges.

So, I am excited to be a part of this club. And as a bonus, I have been wanting to read The Snow Child, which so far I am enjoying.
Hopefully I'll be talking to some of you a little more soon.
Thanks!
Amy (folkpants)

I just joined the group a few moments ago and it is the first I've actually joined, so that's a fun fact. I'm 23 years old and desperately craving to form a habit of carving out more space for creativity in the coming year. Reading inspires me to write, and writing fuels my soul, so a few challenges throughout the year will be excellent.
Aside from reading, I'm dangerously head over heels with my passion for horses (have written since I was 8 and have a sweet, though wild, horse named Good Witch Glinda at the moment), pottery wheels, running, and international travel. I just got back from India about three weeks ago and am planning to go to Nicaragua (and possibly back to Haiti, if I can swing it) in 2014. I'm also a big fan of quilts, chai tea, German Shepherds, and LL Bean. :)
I'm always looking for recommendations on books - I'm particularly fond of non-fiction lately. I'm excited to be a part of this group!

Hope your teeth go well. I have one bit of advice for wisdom teeth removal. Don't over do the dairy! I ate so much yoghurt (although still eat yoghurt if you're on antibiotics), ice cream, milk, milkshakes, chocolate puddings after my surgery, and felt so ill after a few days. Mashed potatoes to soak up the dairy (and the painkillers) are your friend!
But on to more important matters. Hope you get some reading done while you're recovering, and I am sure you will find some recommendations here in no time :D

Oh, absolutely. I'm allergic to dairy and don't like chocolate, so no fear of that! I've basically consumed several strawberry and banana smoothies, coconut milk "ice cream," and mashed potatoes. :) I'm crossing my fingers I can have bananas and oatmeal in the morning.
Thanks for the advice and warm welcome!!

Good luck with the oatmeal. I got over excited on day 3 and tried a curry. I never realised how many spice bits (that's the technical term :P) there were in the curry until I had holes in my mouth.

Hey Kayla, I can't have dairy either. Canned pumpkin and full fat coconut milk in a smoothie with 1/4 of an avocado and 1/2 or a whole banana, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg.....is wonderful if you're up for it. I'm addicted to those smoothies right now.
