Pick-a-Shelf discussion

My, how June has flown by! How is it already the 19th?? Lynne, are you ready to choose the person who gets to pick our July shelf? Choose a deadline for posting reviews so that people who might be finishing up a classic will know to post their review before then. Then draw a name from the list of people who have posted classic reviews this month - excluding people who have made shelf choices in the past so that someone new gets the chance. Classics has been a great shelf, but I also look forward to discovering something new next month!

Actually, the name should probably be chosen from people who posted the reviews for the May shelf (SciFi wasn't it?) as that was how Karen had it. I think it would probably be better too as June is still going and there are people who haven't finished reading the June shelf selection. This way everybody gets a chance to both finish their books without feeling rushed and a chance to get their name chosen!

Yes, but we got behind when Karen left because we didn't immediately keep things going. We haven't used a full month for the drawing for the last two months. We will want to get ahead at some point so that people do have an entire month to read and post reviews, though. How would people prefer we do it? Use last months reviews for the drawing or use this month's reviews and get caught up another month? Either way will work.

I sent a note to Lynne. She replied saying she would choose someone. I'm guessing we will find out early next week.

Just so you guys know, Lynne is on vacation and won't be back until later this week. I usually talk to her each day, but have already talked to her today. I'm not sure if she has access to Goodreads while she is away. I will ask her what the plan is when I talk to her tomorrow.

Okay, here is my pick and the way I picked it. I had decided to go with my favorite number 5. So I picked the 5th person who posted in June because I do like the idea of having the whole month to finish your book and post your review. After all, this is for pleasure right? So (drum roll please) Congratulations to Tara, she is the "Shelf Picker" for the month of July.

Sorry it took me so long, but I was out of town and away from GoodReads. Oh the horror!

Welcome back, Lynne! I hope you had a great vacation. And now we just await Tara's "pick" for our July shelf. I've been speculating what it might be, but I'll just wait and see what she picks. :)
