Ah HAHA!!! I just read the article - was clueless about what you guys were mentioning about going to Argentina with the gov. One of my fave things about vacation is isolating myself from current events. I had no clue this was going on. I was on vacation when the OJ Simpson stuff happened. You can imagine my reaction to that news... I thought it was all an elaborate practical joke someone was trying to pull over on me. And I wasn't buying any of it.
Heidi: And I wasn't buying any of it. I nearly thought the same with the Oklahoma Bombing. I was in the mountains during that week, cut off from all news. Returned and saw the headlines at a McDonalds. Surreal.
When 9/11 happened, and I turned on the radio that morning, my first thought was that it must be an April Fools joke, but it wasn't April.
I read the news ticker on the side of a building downtown as I rode the bus to work that day. It said that a plane hit one of the towers. I pictured a small private plane, and minimal damage. It wasn't until I got to work that I found out what had happened.

By the way, the Milwaukee Police Chief just got busted for an affair, too. Ah, spring...when men do really, really stupid things like have affairs...although, to be fair, they don't seem to be seasonal...
It wasn't me. I was on my porch all weekend, with witnesses. Also, I'm pretty gay, and even if that weren't the case, Republican governors are not my type.

Strange. Even an idiot should know the media would make inquiries if you went missing for more than two days without word. So why lie and your office say were hiking? Why was the wife so accepting? Now he comes out to say he's having an affair? Huh.

I don't like this euphemism anymore. It's confusing when it gets mixed with literal use and figurative use.

Who goes to Argentina without being noticed esp given the recent security measures? (senators that is) I mean if I was Homeland Security, I'd keep an eye on Senator/Rep activities outside the US.

Sanford is now saying he will pay the government back the $8000 he spent on an earlier unsanctioned trip to Argentina. The US government would never have sent him there on purpose, since the US is still mad at Argentina for defaulting on their debt a few years ago.
I would go to the Governor's mansion to get away - since nobody seems to ever be there.
A lil too late, Sarah? It's kinda a cop out. Oops, I got caught so I might as well pay for that trip. I bet if he didn't, he'd never have paid and charged taxpayers.

I think I would pack up a dozen or so must read books and head for my cottage on an island in Lake Erie. Only accessible by boat.

Apparently the governor REALLY just wanted to get away for a while. I understand that impulse. What do you think? What would you go?
