So. . . that ending.

Pretty rough, right?

I don't know why I enjoy dark endings so much but I, personally, loved this so so so so much. I felt it was perfect for the tone of the story. The entire story felt bittersweet to me and this ending was just the cherry on that bittersweet sunday. I'm really curious to find read about Lucy's story in the companion novel, In a Handful of Dust.

What did you think of the ending?

Jessica Shaughnessy (bookbirds) | 7 comments I found that it was great how it all worked out but it was not one of my favourits

Brittany (weareattached) I thought more people should have died. Stebbs or Lynn. Then the ending would have been Lucy.

Trisha Although it broke my heart, the ending was exactly as it should be. Sad, but closer to reality than if everyone got to live "happily ever after"

I thought it was perfect, even if I didn't love it.

I can't wait for the companion novel!

I, personally, did not like the ending. I was unhappy with a certain character's death, and his death was too quick. Really, that whole "attack" scene was too quick. It happened like the snap of fingers, and I just wanted MORE. And I found the epilogue to be kind of odd. BUT, I wouldn't say no to reading the companion novel. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Paiten | 7 comments The ending had me a tad confused, though that may have been because it was three a.m. and I was out of it. I'm so glad there's a companion novel, because I still had to wonder what happened afterwords.
As for the [slight spoilers] deaths, I was glad a certain someone was killed. And I'm not talking about the love interest. [spoilers over]
I liked how fast everything was near the end. I had a feeling of panic, and that must be how Lynn felt. I was confused. It took a while for me to realize WHAT had happened. But it was good.
