John | 2 comments I am trying to find the name of a book I read some 30 years ago.
In it, the author descibes how the Labour party in the UK would ensure a totlitarian communist state. The methods included, removing all hard liners from the party, putting a moderate in charge of the party and slowly eroding the publics ability to affect government. Once the party had become well established the hard liner left wingers would again take over.

I know it sounds like Orwell's 1984, but I promise you it is not - and looking back on the premise of the book with hindsight, it now doesn't appear like a novel, more like a handbook.

Thank you so much, you are correct - in chapter 5, it is the monograph written by Kim Philby - I would never have found it by myself
