Addy | 5111 comments So far its Addy and Gary. I'm starting tomorrow, but feel free to start today. Write us a line if you wanna join!

message 2: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I believe this is a trilogy. The third one hasn't been released yet. Can't wait to start this! Never read this author before either.

message 3: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments It's not bad. I am on chapter 10. It does look like it's trilogy.

message 4: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I think Missing White Girl is the 2nd one. I'm not really sure how they connect.

message 5: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments He really jumps around through a lot of characters.

message 6: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments Yeah. That's what I've heard. I'm only on ch3. I'll get back to it tonight.

message 7: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I am on chapter 13 there must be 25 to 30 characters. Every chapter is a new set almost.

message 8: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments Is the story good at least?

message 9: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments He has some good ideas. He needs to stay with a character for more than a chapter and give the reader a chance to get to know them. I am really not sure what the story is about yet and I am at 33%. Some people are dead and something is causing it I guess.

message 10: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments So far in less than 100 pages he introduced more characters than Robert Jordan does in a 1200 page book.

message 11: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments Hmm. Sounds a bit intimidating...lol.

message 12: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments It gets a bit confusing. I am sorting out and remembering what seem to be core characters and waiting for them to return.

message 13: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Almost every chapter has new characters. Some people might really like that.

message 14: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Truly is an interesting character.

message 15: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments OK I'll join in here, I've just got the book, so I'll be caught up by later on.

message 16: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments It gets better if you hang in there.

message 17: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I will hold off a bit on it and let you catch up Angie. I am curious about what you think.

message 18: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I've got my copy downloaded and I'm home now so I'll be starting it now. Thanks for waiting:-)

message 19: by Andy (new)

Andy (manicsloth) | 730 comments Shart, I just realized that I picked up a copy of this about two months ago. So, is it worthwhile for me to start late?

message 20: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I'm not even to ch4, so its ok if u start Andy.

message 21: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Yes it will give me a chance to read another book I've got waiting. It would be great to have other people to discuss this with Andy!

message 22: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I'm about 18% now and i don't think its that bad character wise. Its mostly about Ingrall and Truly and its those parts I enjoy the best. I love reading about psychics and the occult. I wonder what it has to do with rivers though.

message 23: by Gary (last edited Jan 23, 2014 11:53AM) (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Yes it starts that way. A lot of characters soon get introduced and I had to be patient. I liked Ingrall and Truly also. I agree the subject matter is really interesting.

message 24: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I like Wade as he is developed more. I like the back story information but I thought it could've been given earlier. That was when I really became interested in the characters.

message 25: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments It kind of seems like Molly has feelings for Wade...maybe:)

message 26: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments She turns into a really interesting character. I can't say more without spoiling it!

message 27: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I'm coming up to 20% now, Truly is in Colorado investigating Ingersall. It was weird what happened to him. But Wade and his escape is strange as well, I definatly think Molly has feelings for him. I wonder if she will interview him or concentrate on just spending time with her friend and brother. I don't thing Wade knows what happened anyway.

message 28: by Angie (last edited Jan 23, 2014 04:50PM) (new)

Angie | 141 comments There is a lot of character jumping in the chapters, I'm waiting to see how the author joins them all together. Wade, Truly, Molly and the pyscics pop up. But I can't wait to find out how the book puts them all together. I'm at 26% so that's about 110 pages. Ill read a bit more but I'm tired tonight, its 12.30 am and my heads aching so I might have to sign of until morning.

message 29: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Some I am still not sure how they joined together. I may have missed it.

message 30: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments Its a very good book, one I don't want to put down. I love it when books grab me that way! And its a trilogy isn't it. That means I'll have to buy more books! I want to know more about everyone! I like the Ginny Tupper the hiker/photographer as well. I think she could be really interesting.

message 31: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I like it. It took me awhile to really get into it. At first it grabbed me then the number of characters put me off a bit. Once he returned to the core of the story I really liked it again.

message 32: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I've just read Simon from Bath and I love how British he is!! The author got him perfect. I love it when that happens:-)

message 33: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I'm just past 60% its very hard to stop reading this book. I think Byrd is so cool!! But I'm worried about Wade.

message 34: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments Yes there are some plot twists right ahead. I am going to read it tonight now that you're almost caught up.

message 35: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I'm up to Wade and Molly in the coffee shop, and I think they all caught something in those caves when they were kids. Wonder what that phrase is, I looked it up but it said they couldn't be found. Do you think the author made the words up the way Stephen king does?

Where are you up to Addy?

message 36: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I had to give this a break to finish off some other books. Get back to it tomorrow:)

message 37: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I think I'm going to start on Marina, if I don't put this one down now I'm going to be up for another couple of hours and its already 1.30 am. Its very exciting though!

message 38: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I have to take a break from this. I will be honest, I am having a hard time through large sections of it when it slows down. It feels like work to me to get through sometimes. The characters are not likable and the story drags. The premise is good and I sort of want to see how it turns out but I also don't care about the characters.

message 39: by Angie (new)

Angie | 141 comments I liked Byrd, but not so much Molly or Wade. And Truly doesn't hold my interest. I aslo like Ginny Tupper but she isn't in the book much. (view spoiler)

message 40: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I saw that happening to them and it did get interesting but I wound up disliking them at the same time.

message 41: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments I'm about 30%. I'm finding this just enough interesting to keep going. I really want to see what kind of demon Simon conjures. I guess I'd like to finish since I have the second book in the trilogy.

message 42: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments There are good points in it. It just seemed like I had to go through so much to get to them that it wasn't worth it. I hope it works better for you.

message 43: by Angie (last edited Jan 27, 2014 09:12AM) (new)

Angie | 141 comments I've still haven't finished, I'm at the point were everyone is heading to smugglers canyon. I looked the place up online and the villages that were in the caves and mountains from hundreds of years ago and rock art in that area is far more fascinating than the book. I always look at places that are described in fiction books and its very easy to do when you have a kindle

message 44: by Gary (new)

Gary (gary1123) | 189 comments I did that with Children of the Night actually. I haven't really thought about doing it in novels that don't have as much cultural significance as Children. That's a good idea for all books Angie.
