What Books Did you Hate?

@Kate haha! I read those books in 5th grade so at the time I thought they were amazing...I feel like I need to reread them to get an accurate opinion ;)
Sorry girls. Bella was the worst character I've met and I had to drag myself to finish the series. I read them so I would have the right to give my honest opinion. Haha. It just made things worse that Kristen Stewart played her role. :/

Twilight wasn't terrible but I had absolutely no emotional connection to the romance--so I guess, as someone who didn't read it like a romance novel but who enjoyed some of the strangeness (how comfortable the vampires were as a family, for example, or the dictatorship of the Volturi), it wasn't too bad.
Why I can't say I hate Bella is because she didn't bother me when she moaned and groaned about her problems. She didn't ask for better and when she did, it was to move the book along (it's a slow paced book but it's conversation based). She wasn't overly sexual so I didn't feel like I was reading a porno and she didn't ask a bunch of stupid questions. Sure, she's not useful in society as a whole but she also doesn't stop the world from running with her stupidity. Her stupidity is completely set between the walls of a small, oblivious town that can't see past its own raindrops.
Perhaps that wasn't entirely convincing but let me pull the Evermore card. I felt like a parasite reading that one, like I should be stopping world poverty or teaching myself Morse code instead of reading about the 2D life and times of Ever. How unbelievably rich she was! How beautiful the people around her are! How there's people in her head but she doesn't care about learning to solve their problems because she's too much in pain alone.
So Bella wasn't a role model but she wasn't annoying enough to make me want to drop an anvil. And if she was annoying, I didn't notice because I made myself oblivious to her obliviousness. Sort of like taking a dentist sedative.
If I heard one more word about how unbelivebly sexy *insert Ever's love interest here* while she got herself drunk underage, I would probably jump into a bus during a monster truck rally.
If Bella talks about how much she likes Edward's eyes while reading a book she's memorized and not causing migraine worthy chaos outside. En plus, if her friend was about to die, she'd be bravely impulsive. If one of Ever's human friends tried to kill themselves, Ever would cry and curl up and whine about something mentally for three unrelated paragraphs.
One's a boring forty year old and the other is a seven year old with hormones.
Personally, one made me feel like slitting my throat less.
I agree. Bella wasn't the best character but she wasn't terrible. At least it was fairly good writing while Evermore was just...ugh. I wish I could have helped the author write it, or better yet, convince her not to write it. The plot, writing, characters, everything was terrible. Sorry, I just really didn't like it and don't understand how there's so many books lol

What's with the guy? I can't even remember his name but he was like a cardboard cut out and she kissed him and nearly slept with him and I saw absolutely nothing sexy about him. You couldn't hold a conversation with him--or at least, Ever couldn't.
My favourite character in the whole book was what's his name, her gay best friend. He knew the Ouroboros tattoo meant (which was obvious to me too), he was a caricature (and not a Magnus caricature, but a really, really 2D person who is 2D at depth). The one thing he had that no one else in the book had was love. He loved everyone and not a creepy way. He would make an endearing hero (maybe that's going a little too far).
Ever was a coward and it seemed like the author was trying to emphasis how gay he was to keep the eyes off of his golden heart (he made Ever look really bad). I'm not a homophobe so I found him to be the only one worth reading for.
And since I completely blurred past the end, I can't say how immortals have to do with real life and what use they've had in supporting society or living secret. I knew there were many theories and alchemy and probably even some Monarch Mind Control. It'd be interesting if this was all about Monarch Mind Control. All a severe case of it (so that Ever was actually the one inventing all these 2D people in her life by means of disassociation. The author was purposely inventing someone to see it that way).
((Monarch Mind Control is a form of mind control which creates a mind control slave by utilizing the human brain's trauma response of dissociation to create a form of Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) wherein various triggers can cause the slave personality to surface and respond to commands given by the master ("Handler" in Monarch parlance).))
If we're talking about terrible women characters can we talk about NORA from Hush, Hush!
It's so frustrating because I like the book, but she's just the dumbest character I have ever read. I think I hate her more than I hate Kristen Stewart as Bella

Oh whoops that's what I meant, not Pandemonium ;P But I didn't like the second one either. Only Delirium was good :\

Pandemonium
Evermore
Wake
etc!"
you hated Pandemonium?! You might hate Requiem more. ;)

I liked it but it's not one my favorites.
50 Shades of Gray shouldn't even be considered a book. It's ridiculous with a story line that makes no sense. It makes me so angry when I see it listed as "Best Romance Novel" ...what?!
@Taja why didn't you like Vampire Academy? I haven't rad it yet

The main character is just horrible - she annoyed me so much throughout the book, it was hard to read on. The world building was mediocre and the characters flat. If at least the plot was super interesting, it could maybe make up for other stuff, but it was sadly not good enough :\ Really though, the main character is my biggest problem. You can check out my review if you're interested. Though it seems other people all love the book, which I just don't understand ....
And I agree with you, 50 shades of Gray should not even be a book. It's pathetic.

First of all, both the female characters were so... "What the hell"? Bella was just plain an..."
OMG. THAT ANNOYING INNER GODDESS! I swear that book was RIDICULOUS. I read adult romance books but NOT AS DETAILED AS THIS. I can't believe I've read an erotica novel O_O (it was the first. EVER. My mind was poisoned)

I do love VA series, Rose Hathaway gets on my nerves on the last book though. She's just reckless and (view spoiler)

I agree. I'm kind of confused as well. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.
Maybe it's because I'm a frequent reader of Adult romance novels and Erotica, even BDSM, so I have read A LOT of books that were worse, but I don't know

It's not because of the writing or anything like that, but because of what is being written
It is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY! if you're curious, there is a movie on it though... But after I watched it, I threw up a few times

But I still think that Rose is a problematic character. Her behaviour is not one that should be copied by young girls.
As far as 50 shades of grey is concerned, what bothers me the most is the poor writing. There are far better erotica books out there. This one shows no skill and no imagination + weak characters. :\

Well, I respect your opinion. For me, it was disturbing may be because it's the first erotica book I've read. The sex scenes were TOO DETAILED. If you know what I mean and almost every chapter of it has sex. like 85% of it. There's no story to it.
Well there's one book I've read that was more disturbing but I love its twist.

@Demy - (view spoiler)

There are erotica novels that are way better than 50 shades.

Well, I respect your opinion..."
If you like it, that's all right, but there are many great erotic novels that you should try, just don't stay with that series and continue searching for more books.
