Drinking wine and forgetting to feed the cat.

I'm reading The Outsiders as a buddy read with one of my best friends.

It's good so far. I saw the movie in school years ago but I always wanted to read the book.

I'm in my bed, checking on a couple of groups before going to sleep :)

I'm recovering from eating too much Thai food at my favorite restaurant. If you're ever in Northwest Ohio (specifically Toledo) you've GOT to eat at The Bangkok Kitchen in Maumee, Ohio. I Rickommended it to someone's father once, who had been stationed in Southeast Asia after the Vietnam War and he said it was the best Thai food he'd ever had since leaving Southeast Asia. So I think I'm safe in saying that it's the best darn Thai food outside of Thailand.

Off work sick and drinking an enormous mug of coffee.

Waiting for the library to open (which is actually me unlocking the doors) and listening to the workers ripping up the old carpet in the main hallway. It's going to be one of those days.

Over the weekend, I joined 2 more local libraries including the Los Angeles City Library with its 74 branches and 2.4 million books. I have one more nearby library to join.

Cool. When patrons join our library, they have access to the collections of almost every library in Ohio. Which is probably even larger than the LACL with all it's branches (, not to sound like I'm bragging or anything). ;)

I'm studying for an exam I have on Friday. I enjoy being in university, and I generally like studying, but this particular subject is mind-numbingly boring

Was it required by your major or something? I'd advise not to take the class at all.

I am baking lemon-poppyseed muffins, writing thank you notes to sex toy companies for sending me samples for my classes and watching my dog try to figure out how my cat got into this cardboard box on the floor in my office.

I just did a presentation at my library on the hows and whys that Pluto is no longer considered a planet. It was fun and reminded me of being a TA and tutor for astronomy when I was in college.

Anyone who comes over can have muffins, or brownies, or cookies. I actually have all three but if you want brownies or cookies I need like 15 minutes to take them from the freezer into the oven.

As part of moderator duties elsewhere, I'm taking a break from deleting several hundred older posts... individually; unfortunately, they cannot be batch-deleted.

No, not really. It’s not terrible like other parts of the country. It’s just very dry and bitterly cold. And I hate cold weather.

I bet you're from Canada? If so, I feel your pain - winter turns me in to such a hermit and it lasts SEVERAL months too long. 😕

😹 Nope. Just southwest of Lake Erie, so we don’t get any lake effect weather most years. That is, of course, unless the wind is coming from the northeast and then it’s usually blizzard time. I’ve got several problems that get aggravated in the winter. Seasonal affective disorder and a skin problem that in the cold dry weather often results in making it look like I’m molting. I work at public library, so I can’t really be a hermit or hibernate for the winter as much as s I wish I could. 😹

Right now I’m taking a break while trying to push myself to read the next selection for my sci-fi/fantasy bookclub.

I'm just checking social media.

Start reading my book again

It's the first day of the new year and I'm trying to get back into editing and writing my next novel. I hate taking breaks because it is always difficult to fully immerse myself in my stories again. The best part of taking time away from the writing though, is time hanging out with my adult spawn and reading the many books in my TBR pile.
