Would this be what you loved 17 and under or would it be under 13? Most of the books that I loved as a child were either from the library or I don't have any more or can't recall what I did love reading as child. Although I did love reading the Little House series when I read it when I was 8/9 and did love Jane Eyre when I read it when I was 13. Would appreciate some help. Thanks.

I read A Wrinkle in Time for this one! I read it the first time when I was probably 9 or 10 and loved it.
really anything by roald dahl, but especially matilda and charlie and the chocolate factory. judy blume was also a big favorite. i read these between 8-10 years old.

I remember reading a book called The Endless Steppe when I was in Grade 6. For some reason, my teacher needed it back and I couldn't finish it. It haunted me for years. I finally went and found it recently and read it. The story is about a girl in Russia during WWII who is sent away to a camp with her family. My ancestors are Russian and back then I was quite taken by stories from there.
17 and under if I had this square. For me it would have been Charlie and the chocolate factory (or the great glass elevator). I read a lot of good books as a teen, but those books just make me think of childhood.
A Wrinkle in Time, A Ring of Endless Light (I SO wanted to swim with dolphins) and The Giver.
My favorite book as a child was The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. Highly recommend, still love it. Very close 2nd and 3rd places are The Phantom Tollbooth and The BFG.
Wow Totally agree Last of the Great Whangdoodles was my favorite too.
I don't have this square... but I do have the re-read of a favorite, and I am going to do Harriet the Spy. I have a tattoo of one of the illustrations of Harriet from the book and I haven't read it in probably 10 years or so.
I loved Celia's House by D.E.Stevenson. Wonderful story, setting and scenes vivid in my mind. I still feel like it's a place I've been rather than a book I've read!
