Re 52: we do not merge author names in different languages. Also, please only post a request once, especially since the copy-pasting of links from one request to another simply does not work.

I added the English version of the name to all the Arabic books that did not already have it as primary. Anything more than that will need a librarian who speaks Arabic. Maybe start a new thread in the Language & Translation Issues folder to get the attention of one.

Claudine, all your books are now under Claudine Gueh Yanting, the more complete version of your name reflected on some of your covers.

One seems to be for her free fiction and one for her published... except she has some crossover and she lists the same website for both.

Again, not sure if that's appropriate to be combined or if the author should be consulted, but since it's confusing (especially for things like her book Rorschach Blots which lists both profiles as co-authors) I figured I'd mention it.

Since she publishes under both names, that is correct.

Can someone help with this one please? Sarah Murgatroyd is the author of all three of these books listed at https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8... but the first one in the list (an e-book) says its the one and only edition while the second one says there are 12 editions, which is probably true because I know of at least 3. I can't combine the first one with the others - it seems to be a stray. Thanks

It wasn't under the same author profile - not sure why. I fixed it though. :)

One of them 'Daybreak' is just a short story I released as an e-book, so I'm not sure it should be on here.

re 66, normally it takes a GR employee to merge two profiles together when one of them has been claimed by the author. however, as the renegade profile had only two editions, i manually updated each edition to the correct author name. the renegade profile is now empty and will eventually be removed by an automated script that runs every once in awhile.

as for short stories, we do include them on Goodreads if they have been published on their own (including in ebook format). so it definitely should be here.

Would a librarian be so nice and clean up the entries for Pitigrilli (it is the pseudonym for Dino Segre).

Considering that most entries are found under his pseudonym Pitigrilli (top link) it's probably easiest to either delete the remaining two or merge them all together.

I'm sorry for mixing several topics but while at it, could a helpful librarian also fill in the "about the author section" for Pitigrilli.

Looks like two different Samantha Foster-s to me. If you can verify which (if any) belongs to the GR author we can move those over to the correct profile.

I think the same that Emy. It looks like two different authors. Maybe children books are from GR author, but it's only a suposition.

Two of the kids books were hers, which I've moved. Rest, look unlikely.

re 69, worldcat agrees. the one book under Dino Segre only has Pitigrilli as the accredited author, so I merged all three profiles. I also added the biographical data for Pitigrilli. As for the photo, unless you can give me a URL that says that photo is not copyrighted and/or is ok for common use, I can't upload it, sorry!

Dear librarian, I have a similar problem to some of the above. My author name is D.G. Rampton and my author page is under that name.

Thanks for merging. Forgot about the potential copyright infringement for the author pic. My bad.

Keeping them separate makes it kinda impossible to combine her works. All but the 'fart-books' on Samanth's profile, are also on Samie's (and official) profile...

ok I just tried it out, and it worked I think, "fart-books" moved =)

I was just wondering ;) I've combined the rest of them with the books on the other profile. I think that makes most sense... no use to have same books on both profiles. :)

Actually, because one version of the name entirely includes the other, I'd be ok merging them into the longer version -- but only if the author themselves requested it, as they may be keeping the names separate for some reason.

re 92, Goodreads uses extra spaces to disambiguate authors with otherwise identical names. You are Anne^^Carter, where ^ is a space. I have added the extra space to the author field for the errant editions of that book, which moved them to your profile and allowed me to merge what was actually a duplicate edition. In the process, I found a couple editions of StarCrossed that also needed to be rescued. You might want to check if there are any other books of yours on the default/one-space Anne Carter that need moving:

Merge instructions say to edit the incorrect author to match the correct spelling. Both user names are spelled the same, but it appears as the actual author has a custom url.

And FYI, Goodreads uses extra spaces to disambiguate authors with otherwise identical names. You can only see the extra spaces on the edit page in the author field. The second profile you linked to is actually spelled Jim^^Benson, where ^ is a space. The first profile you linked to is the default Jim^Benson profile. To merge author profiles, you'd need to edit the Jim^Benson profile to Jim^^Benson (assuming ALL the books on the one-space profile really do belong to two-space Jim Benson). However, because the two-space profile is claimed, only GR employees can do it; such requests are posted to this thread.

I edited the two books on the one-space profile that matched the books on the claimed profile. I left the rest alone, but if you know which of the books on the one-space profile need to be moved, you can edit each edition individually to be Jim^^Benson in the author field.
