Jane Linfoot has two different author pages and I don't know how to merge them.

The fist one is Jane Linfoot with two spaces between Jane and Linfoot.
The second only has one space.

To merge the two authors, just edit one to have the same name as the other.

But please first make sure that they are indeed the same!

Now is it possible to delete the duplicate author page?

Hi, I don't really know what to do about the following problem:

Herbert Voss and Herbert Voß are the same person. He publishes his english editions of his books under Herbert Voss and his german editions under Herbert Voß. Are those two authors supposed to go together in some way?

and if they are not supposed to go together, could somebody help me with the following editions? They are german editions and should list Herbert Voß as author, because that's on the bookcovers, but they are combined with the english edition published by Herbert Voss:

Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author.

In this particular case, because of how similar the names are, it required a couple work-arounds to make the German name stick, but it's there now.

The book Taxing Pecksniffery was accidentally added without the periods in the author name because that's how the author spells the pen name.

Hi, I found several others where the same problem as in 113 is the case. I would have done it myself, but I can't make the german name stick:

Thank you in advance. I would be very thankful if you could describe, how you achieved it the first time around.

Two things to keep in mind:

1) Herbert Voß needs to have 2 spaces between first and last name. Otherwise the system thinks it's the same as Herbert Voss and tries to merge them.
2) The system won't allow you to directly add a second author if it's too similar to the first one. So the workaround is to add a fake temporary name (I'm partial to temptemp, but anything you are sure doesn't already have any author profile should work) to each book you want the second author on. Then merge the fake name with the desired name. Et voila!

I'll leave these for you to try, ok? (I already merged the two Herbert Voß profiles though.)

re 126, the trick is to merge them both on the more fleshed-out profile, then afterwards, edit the profile to the correct name. which i've done.

I find that my book Eddies of Life does not feature in my list of books owing to the pen name 'Munnan' being added in the middle Munindra (Munnan) Misra. How can it be featured with other books of Munindra Misra. Can both be combined?

I think this is my fault from the Amazon end of things. My new book is coming up as being written by a different author.

The Vampires of Bifurquer Veine Marais should be attributed to Anneque G. Malchien rather than Anneque Malchien. As you may also see, the Fallouts is attributed to both profiles.
Is it possible to delete the second profile, or amalgamate the two profiles? Anneque G. Malchien should be attributed with The Fallouts, Our Cosmonauts are Dying, and The Vampires of BVM.

Jonas, because we have more than one author named Jonas Lee, you are Jonas-5space-Lee. The extra spaces between your first and last names only show up on book edit pages and your profile edit page, but they tell the system which books are yours. When adding a book manually, be sure to include the extra spaces, and the book will go where it belongs. If you forget (or a book record is imported), post a new thread in this group and any librarian can fix it for you.

Then we would not merge them. If there are individual books published under both names, all editions should have the name it was first published under as primary author, and then any editions published under the other name should have it listed as the secondary author.

re 150, those are all variations of Umar Ibn Muhammed Al-Nefzawi. One of those profiles was the result of a typo (which I merged), but the rest stay because they are published language-specific variations. However, I did move them to secondary author position, added Umar Ibn Muhammed Al-Nefzawi as primary, and combined them with other language translations of the same work.
