Hi guys!

So, it's happening! We're diving into a Stephenson book and I am pretty excited (and very happy) that we'll all be doing so together. I've heard the Seveneves is tough to get through if you've not read much of Stephenson's other work. I've also heard it's 'hard' SF. These two things are a little intimidating to me (having not ever tried his stuff before or read any other 'hard' SF) but I am confident that we'll all make it a good experience, no matter the outcome.

What I will say is that I would love to have a lot of chatter about this one and I know that there will be a lot of 'science-y stuff' I'm unlikely to get, so anyone who's read this before or anyone who's just as lost as I probably will be is welcome :)

I'm looking forward to starting this and I'll be making all the threads very soon to do so. I hope you are too!

Marie Taylor | 6 comments I am looking forward to participating in my first read in this group. I never read any of his books so I might be needing some explanation too.

Tiffany (lexiophile) | 12 comments I'm so excited that my pick won! This is going to be so much fun. I have read Snow Crash by Stephenson but I think the genre is considered cyber punk. I've heard really good things about Seveneves. I'm looking forward to discussing it and trying to understand it!

Wil | 6 comments I cannot wait for this book! I have been wanting to read Stephenson since my librarian recommended snow crash which since the end of school I have managed to loose

:) Can't wait guys! It'll be a fun one I am sure, I just need to make the threads now which I will probably try and get done tomorrow as I'm heading out for the evening so the discussions will begin then!

Brock (brockroberts) | 32 comments I think Stephenson has mellowed out a little bit in recent years. He's more willing to be accessible to readers. Excited to see how this story unfolds. No clue and no expectations. Here we go!

Drew Constance (Authenticangelblissgmailcom) | 1 comments I was having the same feelings about reading it with the technical terminology and the sheer weight of it. My partner has read it [in a day mind you O_O] and has been recommending it to me. As a lover of Sci-Fi I am excited to expand my tastes and give this one a go. I am glad to have a buddy read to talk about it, and also to be able to give myself the month to read it rather than be intimidated. Great to meet you all.
