Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) The Rewind Challenge

In this challenge we will look back on some really great books that were published in 2013 and prier.

Each team can divide all eight of these up as you wish. The first team that reads all eight books will ern bragging rights for the first botb challenge.

1. Read a book that you got for free in 2013.
2. Read one book that was published in 2012.
3. Read a book that was published in 2013 or earlier, but you never got around to.
4. The person that has been a member of Goodreads the longest, must read a book that was published the year you joinned.
5. Read a book that has been on your to-read shelf the longest.
6. Read a book that was published in 2010.
7. Recommend a book to one of your team members that was published in 2013 or earlier.
8. Read a book by a favorite author that was published in 2013 or earlier. (re-reads count!)

Bonus!
Read a book that the entire team have, or have not read before, and read it as a buddy read!

This will be my first year long team challenge but I think it's going to be fun!

Maybe we could even do themes for a whole month or week? That might help us read more. I'm just thinking here....

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) That sounds cool! Other mods or myself will be throwing in fun surprises for everyone!

No Problem!

So if I'm going to be team leader (Amanda I hope that's okay). I need to check in three times a week with you guys. So how about I check in on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday to see how we are doing and if there are any questions? I will be on here other days to but those will be the "check in" days.

All of the books counted will need to be started on February 21, 2014!

Also don't forget to make your year shelf with your goal. And a shelf per month so it's easy for me to keep track of the books you have read.

In the rules it's stated that we have to read at least one book per month and if for some reason you can't read any books let me know.

I'm going to edit my first post and use that one to keep track of all the books each of us has read. That way we can see what we all are reading. Maybe even add to our own To Be Read Lists.

Last thing. Do we want themes or to do something for each week or month?

Sorry this is so long!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Does anyone have any ideas for a team name?

message 17: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mitchell (bookluvr34) | 49 comments Oh I am super okay with you being the leader Lindsey! I think doing themes would be fun. I am just super excited to be apart of this challenge!

message 18: by AnnaMarie (new)

AnnaMarie Welcome Amanda! :)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay! We are all here!

So team names......TV shows, books, movies, actors....I'm up for anything!

If we do themes would you want a different one per week or one per month?

message 20: by AnnaMarie (new)

AnnaMarie Just giving a quick glance of our favorite books, I see that we all seem to have in common Hunger Games trilogy, Vampire Academy...a team name along those lines?

And how fast are you girls reading these days? With the New Adult books, I am finding they are quick reads and I can read several in a week, but maybe we should stick with a theme of once a month - no pressure on Lindsey to have to come up with something every week, since she's taking on Team Leader? Just some random thoughts. ;)

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a pretty fast reader.

I'm leaving for work and school but I will be back on later tonight!

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Name suggestion: the rapid arrows? Lol okay I will go now!

I'm a pretty fast reader. As for name suggestions...I have no clue. The Rapid Arrows sound fine to me. LOL

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Team names: Classy Readers......The Wonder Readers.....Vampire Games (Hunger Games + Vampire Academy)....Always Reading....

Just a few!

How about since February will only have 8 days we read without a theme and we can start themes next month!

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Lindsey you are the team leader right? Please let me know when you guys decide on a team name!!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I will!!

Those are some pretty awesome Team Names! I totally agree about the theme. It would be easier to just start a theme next month. So a quick question, we have to create a shelf for each month right? Starting with February? Sorry if my question seems unwarranted, I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. :-)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes one shelf per month and one for the whole year.

At the end of each month I will collect all the books read and post in one of the top comments so we can see what everyone is reading. And I will submit how many we each read individually and together.

I hope that makes sense. I'm on my phone at the moment.

message 29: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mitchell (bookluvr34) | 49 comments That makes sense. I thought that was what we were supposed to do, but I just wanted to double check. Thank you for clearing that up.

message 30: by Loni (new)

Loni Engledow (lonisue75) | 27 comments Sounds great I've been reading a lot lately but started a stint I. Substitute teaching so I probably won't get as much done as I would like, but every chance I get I will be reading!!

message 31: by AnnaMarie (new)

AnnaMarie Everything sounds great girls! :) I'm holding off until midnight to start my first book! :) Will get the month shelf started too!

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

So we need a team name....

message 33: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mitchell (bookluvr34) | 49 comments Lindsey wrote: "So we need a team name...."

Yes, we do. I don't know about you all but I really am Always Reading, so I like that one a lot. And Vampire Games sounds pretty cool plus it represents two series that were on all of our favorite lists.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm good for anyone of them.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay!

So it's the 21st! I wanted to have my current books done but I don't. I'm going to stay up to finish them. Then start my books for this!!

I will check in on Saturday to see how we are all doing!!

Ditto! I'm partial to Always Reading as well... :)

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Always reading is cool with me.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

What about this for a Team Name: The Always Reading Hungry Vampires?

This would tie in always reading & Vampire Academy & Hunger Games!

message 39: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 22, 2014 01:05PM) (new)

So how are we all doing?

I will have Under the Moon by Rose J. Bell finished by tonight!

And I should have two of these finished during the night. Going to stay up late to get some reading done!I have gotten behind on my goal for the year so I need to catch up.
Alienated (Alienated, #1) by Melissa Landers Vain (The Seven Deadly, #1) by Fisher Amelie Fragile Spirits (Souls, #2) by Mary Lindsey Split by Stefan Petrucha

Happy reading tonight Lindsey! :) Under The Moon looks like a good read!

Crazy weekend for me but I have this one finished so far:

Jet (Marked Men, #2) by Jay Crownover

And will probably start the next one in that same series later this evening...once I start a series, I like to see it through ;) :

Rome (Marked Men, #3) by Jay Crownover

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

You might be able to ask the author for a copy to read for a review.

I wish I was like that. I start a series and don't finish it. Then when I go back to finish it I need to reread the ones I have already read.

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mitchell (bookluvr34) | 49 comments I'm going to finish Ignite Me tonight and then I'm going to start rereading a series for the release of a new book. Have fun on your readathon!

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

@Amanda What series are your rereading?

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Hey everyone, all books that you read must be at least 100 pages. If you have one that you have already read, that is fine it will count. But from now on, they must be at least 100 pages.

message 46: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mitchell (bookluvr34) | 49 comments Lindsey wrote: "@Amanda What series are your rereading?"

I'm rereading the Mythos Academy Series by Jennifer Estep. The newest (and last) book in the series comes out tomorrow so I wanted to reread the series to sort of say goodbye to the characters if that makes any sense at all. haha

I always like to reread series. There are some series that are just too perfect.

Enjoy reading and I hope you enjoy the last book in the series.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

So how is everyone doing?

We are 3 days in!

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Hey guys, please only put books you have already read on you main botb shelf. If you have books that are on your shelf that you have not read, please remove them. You can create a botb to read shelf if you would like to plan ahead. Sorry for not telling you guys this in the beginning.

That is exactly it! Plus, I feel like I've dedicated so much time to these characters and their story that I want to relive it all with them one more time before it all ends. I mean what if one of the characters dies *shudders*.
