From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if I had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice is also great and would suffice." This quote sets the stage for the mood that you feel even from the beginning of this book. It is an intense, serious, life or death kind of mood. So far, this book is the most epic of the Twilight Saga. There is still tension between Jacob and Edward. The hostility between them is really a microcosm to the microcosm of the tension between the werewolf clan and the Cullen Vampire clan. This poem really brings together the two forces. It intrigues me to read more knowing that there will be a clash between sides and death involved. I love how Meyer brings classic literature into her saga. It brings the reading level up and makes it more profound. It also marries different time previous proving that mankind never changes and Edward has lived to see this.
